Management Associate Program (MA): Gerdau proudly offers a Leadership Development Program referenced as a Management Associate (MA), a flagship position known to empower people to recognize opportunity for improvement, and drive important projects forward to promote an increase in production, safety, quality, and collaboration. The intensive 18-month development path utilizes on-the-job learning, classroom training, coaching and ongoing mentorship by senior management to turn MAP graduates into our future managerial and technical leaders. What you will do :
• As an MA you will be responsible for learning and implementing routine actions in the corporate accounting department as well as engage with other areas of corporate and mill/metallics finance including Treasury, Tax, FP&A, Internal Audit and Shared Service.
• Gain a holistic view and acumen of the industry by working with each level of Gerdau North America, as well as potentially travel to various destinations throughout the US and Canada.
• Further your development by interacting with other MAs from across North America while tackling some of the organization’s biggest challenges.
• Grow a set of managerial, interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills.
• Work with software such as SAP, Microsoft (excel, word, power point, etc.) and gain knowledge in applications such as Power BI, Microsoft Teams, Trello and other systems for tracking projects and KPI’s.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 2021/2022 College graduate - recently completed or be in the process of completing degree before program starts
• Record of high academic achievement (Minimum GPA 2.5, preferred GPA 3.0 or higher)
• Preference for a degree related internship experience
• A maximum of 3 years full time work experience
• Well-rounded applicants with leadership roles in student organizations or extra-curricular activities
• A high learning agility and willingness to adapt and develop continuously
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment
• Willing to relocate to various locations within the United States during the length of the program
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ideally Excel, Power Point and Word.
• An overwhelming curiosity not easily discouraged and the willingness to roll up your sleeves and dig into processes outside your main area of responsibility.
Responsibilities
• Account reconciliations and analysis
• Participate in monthly, quarterly and year end closing of the company’s financial systems, including journal entries, accruals, allocations, statistics and analysis.
• Review accounting information for accuracy and reasonableness.
• Act as a liaison between corporate and location accounting.
• Prepare footnotes for quarterly and annual reporting for consolidated reporting as necessary.
• Assist with internal and external audit activity.
• Develop or update narratives and procedures for Accounting processes.
• Cost analysis, including production cost, cost of goods sold, and SG&A.
• Learn ERP system (SAP) for costing, Fixed Assets, and financial accounting, while also using Microsoft office products (Excel, word, etc.) to complete various corporate and location analysis.
• Assist with identifying recurring activities that are good candidates for Automation.
