Full Job Description PAYROLL SUPERVISOR
The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for driving the development and implementation of core operational processes related to HRIS maintenance and payroll services, as well as serving as a coach and guide to processing team members. This position assumes a leadership role by improving process efficiency, documenting processes, training team members, and ensuring delivery against service level expectations within the payroll function.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Guide the day-to-day activities of processing team members, plan and determine workflow priorities, provide technical assistance, monitor quality of work and team progress.
• Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of all HRIS and payroll transactions, as well as preparing accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
• Research and resolve escalated, complex inquiries by researching, gathering support information, and soliciting input from SMEs. Identify symptoms, cause, and corrective measures.
• Develop and document HR processes and procedures to ensure efficiencies are achieved and best practices are in place; inclusive of establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
• Identify areas in which standardization and efficiencies can be accomplished and work with all necessary stakeholders to accomplish the goal.
• Identify and document process improvements and current trends/issues to improve the colleague and business partner experience while gaining operational efficiency and productivity.
• Performs all duties and responsibilities to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Management and Supervisory Scope:
• As a Payroll Supervisor you would serve as a mentor, guide and coach to a team of 4+, drives daily workflow of the team, and responsible for performance management and team member training.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Business or Human Resources, or a related field.
• 5+ years of total payroll and HRIS experience with 3+ years at a professional level
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Project and team management/leadership skills and experience.
Knowledge of HR/payroll laws, regulations, concepts, and payroll transaction processing
Knowledge of writing SOPs and implementing service SLAs in a shared service environment.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Capable of exercising a high level of confidentiality and ability to exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.
Must demonstrate the organization’s core values, exuding behavior aligned with the firm’s culture.
Technical, Computer, System Skills:
Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to learn appropriate HRIS and payroll software systems.
