The ICG Global Risk and Control Legal sub-team within ICPI Legal: (1) provides advice, counsel and other legal support to ICG’s Risk and Control Department and to other ICG Legal and functional colleagues in relation to their risk management activity (including in connection with Citi’s risk and controls transformation); (2) will take the lead for ICG Legal on Fed/OCC Consent Order related activities; and (3) is responsible for designing, developing and enhancing aspects of ICG Legal’s cross-product risk & control infrastructure. This includes advice, counsel and support connected with ICG’s existing operations and requirements as well as to ongoing and forthcoming transformatory programs, both from an ICG (business) and an ICG Legal perspective, including Consent Order related. The team’s ICG Legal infrastructure focus will take into account systematic activities which have relevance on a cross product basis.
Responsibilities:
The role holder will help to develop and provide ongoing support to various risk management committees and governance processes at Citi which Legal either participates in or leads (e.g. new product approval processes) as well as support the execution of an enhanced ICG Legal risk & control infrastructure. As an example of a key priority: with respect to new product approval committees, the person in this role will be responsible for identifying appropriate ICG Legal participants for committee meetings, ensuring those participants are briefed and participate in the process, and managing the resolution of any resulting activities that are the responsibility of ICG Legal. Accordingly, the role holder will need to work closely with lawyers across ICG Legal.  Over time, the role will take on similar responsibilities in other risk governance and oversight processes.
Working with internal colleagues, the role holder will also be expected to contribute to the team’s management of the impact of Citi’s ongoing risk & control transformation work on ICG Legal, including in connection with the Fed/OCC Consent Orders, with respect to these various risk management committees and governance processes.
Responsibilities are expected to evolve over time as Citi continues to enhance its risk & control infrastructure, but initial responsibilities are expected to include:
• Working across ICG Legal to coordinate robust, timely, appropriate engagement by ICG Legal in various risk management committees and governance processes;
• Supporting implementation of new and enhanced risk management infrastructure across ICG Legal geographies and products and working closely and collaboratively with the rest of the ICPI Legal Team (including technology and operations teams) to ensure efficient, effective implementation of the Citi risk & control transformation within ICG Legal;
• Supporting implementation of Citi’s response to the Fed/OCC Consent Orders and related transformation efforts as it impacts ICG Legal’s participation in risk management committees and governance processes; and
• Providing training and education for ICG Legal management and product lawyers on risk & control management and related topics, including expectations for participation in various risk governance and oversight processes.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree with 3-5 years’ relevant experience
• Risk & control management experience, particularly in operational or compliance risk management
• Familiarity with institutional banking, markets and finance businesses, products and structures
• Familiarity with legal services, basic legal principles
• Comfort with dynamic, changing environments
• Working knowledge of risk & control issues arising in large financial institutions
• Experience working in a large bank preferred
