What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and are in total compliance with all Vulcan policies and procedures.
Manage Employee Relations. Provide strong leadership, training, team building, and supervision to all operational employees within the area in order to support the operational function of the business. Provide guidance on all recruitment, training, development, and retention strategies for employees.
Industry Best Practices. Person possesses working knowledge of aggregate, asphalt and ready mix concrete plant operations and extensive knowledge of ASTM, DOT and AASHTO testing procedures; Person must be knowledgeable in product related specifications and finished products.
Maintain Compliance. Ensure that all assigned plants are in compliance with Vulcan's safety and operations policies and procedures. Work closely with Company resources to ensure that all present and future permits and reclamation plans are current in order to expand Company mining operations. Ensure that materials are in accordance with specifications and quality standards.
Manage Process Improvement. Direct process improvement goals and objectives for assigned plants in order to ensure that productivity and efficiency goals are met. Establish and measure performance standards for technical support groups.
Ensure Economic Profit. Manage the annual budget process. Ensure assigned plants meet or exceed budget goals and objectives, improve return on their assets, and direct the capital budget for each site to ensure that all capital projects are completed according to AFE and cost projections.
Coach and Guide Others. Provide strong leadership skills by motivating and mentoring all employees. Set performance standards for employees and monitor performance.
Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Skills You'll Need:
Experience. Experience in supervising production employees, preferably at either an aggregate, sand/gravel, or asphalt plant is preferred.
Leadership and Management Skills. Must be able to provide strong leadership and guidance to employees, both direct and indirect reports. Must be able to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.
Operational Knowledge. Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of rock and sand mining, ready-mix concrete, and/or asphalt operations and equipment, MSHA regulations, engineering principles and procedures, and quality control systems and processes.
Interpersonal Skills. Must be an excellent motivator and team builder. Must be able to form strong social relationships and effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences.
Financial Knowledge. Must possess knowledge and experience leading financial performance to established targets.
Flexibility. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
