Job Summary: The Sr. Manager of Global M&A Modeling orchestrates the financial return analytics for potential acquisitions around the world.  Reporting into the Sr. Director of Americas Finance, this role is dynamic, fast-paced and collaborates across teams throughout the organization.  The Sr. Manager will operate and further develop a globally consistent financial model serving as the foundation for evaluating acquisition targets.  M&A modeling requires partnership with internal teams to forecast economics and business drivers mixed with seller or investment banker information.  Daily work will vary widely depending on project size and progression.
This team leader will draw upon and develop skills in the following focus areas:
• Integrated, three-statement financial modeling with sophisticated analysis of scenarios, sensitivities, profitability, accretion/dilution and benchmarking
• Real-time due diligence and financial analysis of investments and acquisitions
• Appraising deal economics based on changes to key valuation forecasting assumptions
• Producing transaction comparables to assess deal rationale
• Preparing a pro-forma P&L and DCF based on the investment life
• General accounting and finance theories and concepts, particularly economic returns
• Strategy and awareness of general market dynamics
• Excellent communication skills across formats—delivering sometimes provocative messages on complex subject matter with poise, clarity, and impact
Responsibilities
• Ownership of all deal models for M&A transactions, from inputs to outputs
• Collaborate with internal department leaders (Corp Dev, Strategy, Regional Finance, Technical Accounting, Tax, Treasury, etc.) and investment bankers to build accurate forecasts
• Develop clear, high-impact presentation materials and other written communications suitable for C-level and BOD consumption
• Represent the team at various workstream meetings (new and active M&A transactions, JV activity, integration budgeting, etc.)
• Perform due diligence review in various contexts; assess and synthesize summaries of risk and return for Equinix
• Program management and cross-functional coordination as required by needs of new and ongoing projects
• Strategic alignment, cross-functionally, to determine group business needs and facilitate company understanding of ongoing investment, merger and acquisition projects
Qualifications
• Transaction execution experience from time spent in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or corporate development function at a large company
• Preference given to tech-sector experience (broadly defined)
• Confident financial modeler capable of quickly transforming novel concepts from whiteboard to spreadsheet
• Direct experience constructing valuation analyses of various types
• Understanding of accounting concepts and financial statement analysis
• Familiarity with industry dynamics in Equinix’s areas of competition and business models in adjacent spaces
• Highly driven with a history of success in ambiguous, unstructured situations
• Meticulously organized and focused on detail

• Undergraduate degree required; business or economics majors preferred
• CFA charters or MBA credentials viewed favorably but not required
• 7+ years experience
