Job Description
Primary Objective:
The Director of Finance Operations leads a team of 2 direct reports, ensuring the creation of accurate sales orders and the correct invoicing of our customers. The Director of Finance Operations has strong computer skills, leads or influences complex inter-departmental projects, and moves their organization forward with process improvements and productivity efficiencies.
Responsibilities include:
• Create and manage an organization's annual budget; provide reporting to senior leadership on budget progress throughout the year
• Manage accounts receivables and payables processes
• Maintain accurate payroll processing
• Oversee completion of the annual tax return and audit with the contracted accounting firm
• Manage the organization's financial accounts (checking, savings, investment)
• Ensure that H/R processes are consistent in regard to hiring practices, performance evaluations, and employee recordkeeping
• Work closely with external vendors for IT management, office supply, and equipment ordering/maintenance
• Implementing process improvements to become more efficient and accurate, and to enhance service levels with internal and external customers
• Leading and mentoring a team of 2+ direct reports, including conducting weekly one-on-ones and leading performance reviews
• Ensuring the correct flow throughout the billing process, from sales order entry to the creation and distribution of invoices, ensuring invoices are accurate and timely, revenue/COGS is recognized correctly, and customers are paying in a timely fashion
• Thoughtful delegation of duties to staff to balance workloads and achieve results
• Partnering with Sales and Operations staff to resolve issues and improve service
• Leading or participating in complex cross-functional projects
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
• A proven track record for discovering and implementing process efficiencies and solving complex problems that affect multiple departments
• Must have 5+ years of experience leading the Billing function of an organization
• Must have 5+ years of prior experience managing and leading direct reports
• Must possess strong computer skills, especially with Excel; NetSuite Software experience a plus
• Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and the ability to assist with month-end close activities
• Ability to partner with other department heads to ensure the satisfaction of internal customers
• Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
