Full Job Description Customer Service Receptionist Job Description
People-persons and multitaskers, customer service receptionists help customers solve their product-related problems through phone, email, or text conversations. Seeking a customer service receptionist usually employed by service-based industries, work in an office setting, such as financial, medical, and insurance offices. The first impression visitors get of an organization often comes from a corporate receptionist; a pleasant demeanor is critical. You must have excellent people skills, customer service oriented, and be extremely organized. Attention to detail is a must!
Customer Service Receptionist Duties and Responsibilities
Operate Phones
A customer service receptionist serves as the information provider and message taker for incoming calls. Knowledge of the company and its staff enables the proper direction of filtering inquiries. As some switchboards are complex, the receptionist must master the equipment so that calls get routed or placed on hold correctly. Setting up conference calls also may be part of the job. When arriving in the morning, the receptionist may listen to voice mails that came in after hours and deal with them appropriately.
Research Answers to Customer Questions
Customer service receptionist finds answers to customer questions in an efficient manner. These duties vary slightly between calls, texts, emails, and office settings.
Diffuse Customer Complaints
Sometimes, customers who call are are very upset. It is the responsibility of the customer service receptionist to keep a cool, calm demeanor and do everything in their power to diffuse the customer. This requires conflict resolution skills and the ability to think on one’s feet.
Use Computers
Email correspondence, data entry, and responding thru various text platforms are some of the computer-related tasks often performed by the receptionists. Must have a good grasp on Microsoft Office suite.

Because you interact with various people while performing your job, admirable interpersonal skills are imperative. Being friendly, polite, and helpful reflects positively on the company. Other factors critical to getting the job done include:
