Responsibilities
Exhibits an expertise in corporate and commercial transactions, provides excellent legal counsel and guidance, and effectively represents Southwest with outside vendors, lawyers, regulators, public officials, and others.
WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:

The Attorney – Corporate & Transactions represents the Company generally through interaction with (i) various departments and their Leaders within the Company and (ii) external parties with whom the Company does, or may do, business
Act as a legal contact for supply chain management (enterprise and fuel), finance, strategy and innovation, and other departments of the Company in negotiating, drafting and reviewing a wide range of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, purchase agreements, fuel supply agreements, professional services agreements (e.g. master service agreements and statements of work), banking agreements, credit agreements, loan agreements, licensing agreements, maintenance agreements, evaluation agreements (e.g., for hardware, software, cloud services, and mobile applications), outsourcing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, telecommunications agreements, and agreements related to environmental sustainability initiatives
• Analyze and interpret existing Company agreements to provide advice and guidance
• Collaborate with legal department colleagues on a variety of legal and regulatory issues, with an emphasis on supporting the Company’s environmental sustainability initiatives
• Provide legal support and advice to support compliance with the Company’s corporate policies
• Strategically manage outside counsel and budgets.
• Efficiently and effectively prioritize and manage concurrent projects with competing Company demands
• Performs other duties requiring legal research and analysis and/or negotiations as may be requested

Qualifications
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Law degree from an accredited school required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
• 3 Years of experience with a mid-sized to major law firm and/or in-house legal department as a practicing transactional attorney with a focus on corporate and commercial transactions required.
• 3 Years of experience with matters involving drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, including non-standard agreements, for example, procurement, professional services, finance, and non-disclosure agreements required.
• Experience with laws, regulations, and programs related to climate change and emissions (including carbon and environmental credits, offsets, and/or attribution) preferred.
• Experience negotiating with foreign entities, including those located in Latin America, preferred.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION:
• Must be a current member in good standing of a bar association
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
• Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time
• Ability to use a computer with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
• Ability to bend, stand, and sit for extended periods of time
• Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
• Ability to travel long hallways in large buildings and in between campus buildings
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/WORK STYLE:

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
• Must be willing to travel when required (e.g., to support the Company’s airport development and other projects)
• Must be able to work flexible schedule to include non-business days and hours as needed to meet client needs
