Job Summary:
Owensboro Community and Technical College is hiring a full-time Automotive Program Coordinator/Assistant Professor in the Manufacturing and Skilled Trades Department. The position oversees the Automotive Technology and Diesel Technology programs at OCTC. Primary responsibilities include; instruction, program development, coordination, assessment, and evaluation.  Candidates must possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, working with a diverse population, and the community and technical college mission. This individual should be a visionary leader in the automotive industry and looking to build a successful Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) accredited academic program incorporating modern technologies and work-based learning.
Duties:
Essential duties and responsibilities:
The duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinates all aspects of the Automotive Technology and Diesel Technology programs, including classroom and online instruction, development of course materials, curriculum and resources, identify qualified adjunct instructors, and assess student achievement.
• Ensures the program meets and maintains all applicable regional and ASE/NATEF accreditation requirements.
• Teaches Automotive Technology courses with a focus on ASE/NATEF certifications.
• Provides academic advising and career-related counseling for students.
• Engages in active recruitment and retention activities.
• Maintains an awareness of emerging technologies, trends, and issues in the field.
• Represents the program(s) to secondary schools, community partners, groups, and professional organizations.
• Participates in faculty professional development activities.
• Collaborates with business and industry for internship placement, curriculum alignment, and program advisement.
• Maintains program records and completing reports as required locally and by the Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) as well as accrediting bodies.
• Assists the program’s full-time and adjunct instructors with teaching methodology, educational materials, and technology.
Assignment may include some evening, weekend, online, in person, hybrid, and/or off-campus courses.
Qualifications:
• Associates degree in Automotive Technology or equivalent.
• 5 years of applicable work experience.
• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Certified (or willingness to achieve certifications within 6 months).
