DESCRIPTION
BASIC FUNCTION
To assist cooking staff with preparing meals for residents in accordance with the established procedures and as directed by the supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Working tray line
• Understanding of diets
• Understanding of FIFO
• Understanding of the importance of temperatures and logs.
• Cleaning and sanitizing of areas and supplies
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives from the Dietary Manager, Assistant Dietary Manager and Cooks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years old
ADHERENCE TO FACILITY PROCEDURES
1. Procedures are performed according to established method in the procedure manual.
2. Body substance precautions and other appropriate infection control practices are utilized with all activities.
3. Safety guidelines established by the facility (Le., proper restraint and side-rail use) are followed.
4. All accidents or incidents observed are reported on the shift that they occur.
PROFESSIONALISM
1. Decisions are made that reflect both knowledge and good judgment.
2. Awareness of own limitation is evident and assistance is sought when necessary.
3. Dress code is adhered to.
4. Committee meetings (if assigned) are attended. Reports related to the committee are given during staff meetings.
5. Responsibility is taken for own professional growth. Attend and participate in all scheduled training, educational and orientation classes, programs and activities including annual mandatory classes.
6. Follow work schedules and complete assigned tasks according to the established policies and procedures of the facility.
7. Notify the facility if you are going to be late or absent from work.
8. Organizational ability and time management is demonstrated.
9. Confidentiality of patient/resident is respected at all times (i.e., when answering telephone and/or speaking to co-workers).
10. Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel to ensure that the needs of the patients/residents are met and maintained.
HUMAN RELATIONS
1. A positive working relationship with patients/residents, visitors and facility staff is demonstrated.
2. Authority is acknowledged and response to the direction of supervisors is appropriate.
3. Co-workers are readily assisted as needed.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)
1. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
2. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
3. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
4. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetic devices to enable them to use these senses adequately, to ensure that the requirements of the position are met.
5. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
6. Must be able to assist with the evacuation of patients/residents.
7. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
8. Must be able to work with and relate to the ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally upset patients/residents.
9. Must be able to work effectively with patients/residents, personnel and support agencies.
