Services for the Clinical Strategy and Operations Team
As a leader in clinical operations and strategy, you will be charged with developing, implementing, and operationalizing large clinical programs for the nation’s largest Medicare Advantage plan. Our plans include over 7 million members and revenues exceeding $90 billion per year. The Senior Director will have key strategic and business responsibility for development and execution of major national clinical initiatives. In addition, the Senior Director will be a key liaison across functional partners through executive reporting, sharing strategy, and partnering on internal/ external programs and presentations. You will serve as a key team member, reporting to the VP of Clinical Strategy, and working closely with the Chief Medical Officer and SVP of Clinical Operations to determine, articulate and execute/ operationalize business vision, mission, strategies and tactics to achieve membership, revenue and IOI targets. You will execute on existing business goals and expand new business opportunities. The Senior Director will have primary responsibility of key nationwide clinical efforts, overseeing projects for the most important and prevalent population health conditions. The Senior Director will work across a complex and collaborative matrix organization, including United Healthcare and Optum divisions.
Primary Responsibilities:
Strategic and Operational Ownership of Key Programs
• Leads and drives large-scale initiatives to operation by providing strategic direction, designing successful programs, and communicating to/ influencing leaders across the M&R business and UHG to deliver on outcomes that further the growth agenda with focus on critical health priorities
• Develops and executes a cohesive strategic plan that estimates and allocates the resources required to deliver the outcomes
• Works closely with Clinical Strategy leadership to ensure the strategic direction and the financial justification is sound before a decision is made to pursue
• Manages program operations through leader communication, funding/ budget maintenance, and building strong relationships with internal/ external vendors
• Leads in program management by providing oversight to and directing program launch, operations, issue resolution, governance, and reporting
Organizational Alignment - nationally, regionally and with matrix partners
• Evaluates national programs (e.g., Growth/Service/Culture) and provides feedback to national initiative designs ensuring they are representative of senior management's requirements
• Partners with Regional and Local Chief Medical Officers to execute programs locally
• Identifies connections and dependencies among the program's components, and integrates all the work streams to ensure alignment
Analysis
• Interprets data analysis to guide strategies ensuring we are intelligent about how we approach the market
• Identifies and executes on research needs
Business & Strategic Planning
• Supports development of business plan strategy in conjunction with the Clinical Strategy team, providing insight and recommendations and ensuring alignment
• Tracks progress against plan, identifies any deviations and suggests plans to remediate; provides reports and analysis as required
• Participates in strategic planning for P&L owners and assists in developing specific plans as needed
• Executes existing business goals and expands new business opportunities
• Communicates effectively to leadership – written and verbal, internal and external
• Strategic portfolio management
• Efficient in project planning, task-management, risk mitigation, and program execution
• Cultivation of strong business relationships
Required Qualifications:
• Masters degree preferred
• 3+ years of experience with business/ healthcare strategy, clinical preferred
• Experience with implementations in the healthcare industry
• Experience within large, matrix organizations with demonstrated business results
• High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
• 3+ years of experience in program management
• 3+ years of experience interacting with business leadership
• Highly collaborative
• Excellent communication skills; ability to independently produce written communication for executive leaders
• Entrepreneurial and be able to work independently and effectively in a results-oriented, efficient environment
• Results and solutions oriented
• Ability to rapidly engage with a new problem, and rapidly drive solutioning
• Ability to interact one-on-one and communicate with all levels of executive management
• Ability to synthesize complex information to drive decision-making
• Operational experience, to ground recommendations in clinical and business service workflows
• Expert at strategic conceptualization both at a local level and also within the Solid understanding of operations, reporting and forecasting
• Strong analytical skills; ability to quickly interpret information and draw conclusions
• Proven ability to build relationships cross-functionally and lead toward common goals
• Demonstrated leadership and hands-on experience, strong leader and motivator with the ability to mentor talent within the organization; able to provide work direction; able to attract and retain top talent
Colorado Residents Only: The salary/hourly range for Colorado residents is $110,200 to $211,700 base.
