Will Be Responsible For:
• Ability to perform venipuncture and microtainer collection.
• Ensure specimens are correctly labeled and orders are received.
• Ability to properly prioritize routine specimen receipt in the laboratory on a “first in – first out” basis.
• Performs assigned pre-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, which may include general equipment maintenance, function checks and documentation; inventory control and supply stocking;
• Stat and Alert specimens are prioritized before routine orders.
• Continually maintains workspaces in a neat, organized, and properly supplied; properly stores documentation and paperwork.
• Performs post-analytical activities related to laboratory testing as needed to support assigned department.
• Performs various support activities to facilitate operation of assigned department or work area, which may include answering the telephone, clerical and receptionist duties.
• Assists the Practice management with special projects as assigned.
• May assist with training of other staff, when needed.
• Provides resolution to customer service issues within guidelines and supports education to clinical staff.
What You Will Need:
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
• Phlebotomy  (venipuncture and capillary)
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Ability and willingness to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
• High School Graduation or GED
• KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
• 1 year of phlebotomy experience with demonstrated clerical aptitude
• alid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
• Phlebotomy Training Program, Phlebotomy Technician or Certified Laboratory Assistant
• LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
• Phlebotomy Technician or Certified Laboratory Assistant
Job Summary
The Laboratory Phlebotomist is responsible for collection of blood samples, through the use of standard venipuncture and microtainer techniques. Receives laboratory specimens and processes samples for Laboratory testing. Performs clerical and client service functions in the Laboratory as requested
