What you’ll be doing...
This position is a Construction Field Engineer job on the Cell Implementation Small Cell team, which is highly demanding, fast-paced, stressful, and requires exceptional time management and communications skills. 99% of work is in the field attending site visits requiring travel and outside work. Most outside work is at outdoor cell sites throughout FL to include some shelter/hub work as required.
• Provides project management and supervision of construction activities for multiple Network projects including but not limited to : SC pole installations, extensive ROW mgmt., LAA/CBRS adds, 4G adds, 5G adds, fiber testing, fiber troubleshooting and resolving from the SC pole to a hub location (ladder climbing is required).
• Fully responsible for overseeing and inspecting work performed by contractors to include reading Construction Documents and being able to precisely and accurately measure distances for proper installation in exact location per the Construction Documents. This is extremely important for ROW work.
• Provide accurate, timely, and concise communications; express and explain issues clearly; update project trackers as required; email and call project members as needed.
• Provide clear direction and direct supervision to contractors, vendors, and/or other teams supporting small cell projects.
• Provide hands on support for fiber testing, usually at the Node location, testing with the CE at the Hub location
• Provide hands on support for cross connects at the Hub and any other hub related work that can be done by a CE
• Provide guidance for site surveys if required to ensure cell site installation accounts for civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical feasibility.
• Conduct punch walk/acceptance check lists to ensure construction issues are identified and corrected. Important to ensure SC construction is built to exact specifications as shown on the Construction Documents to include all equipment installation locations within the ROW. It is extremely important for accurate installation to ensure no equipment overlaps into private property. This includes antenna overhang (at ~30’ in the air), cabinet overhang, ground vaults, pole location, etc.
• Verify testing parameters to include voltage, sweeps, PIM, fiber test for connectivity to/from SC and associated Hub.
• Support respective CEs in interfacing with internal and external departments to include Real Estate, Regulatory, Transport Team, Hub Implementation Team, Verizon Business, and Municipal Agencies in the pursuit of construction and in-service approvals, building permits, and construction inspections.

You'll need to have:
• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Three or more years of work experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel.
Even better if you have:
• A degree.
• Five years of experience in the wireless telecom industry (or military equivalent) with a focus on cell site construction project management disciplines.
• Extensive experience in testing fiber optic cables.
• Self-managed and a self-starter with a proven ability to thrive while under intense pressure to deliver projects on time, with zero defects, and within budget
• Strong ability to manage changing priorities, competing priorities, and situations in which guidelines can change
• Ability to learn new processes and technologies quickly; retain new info; and eager to do own research (on and off the job) in finding info and answers.
• Abilityto adapt communication style to setting and investigate/implement alternate approaches to resolve difficult problems with minimum management input.
• Abilityto work flexible hours; support night and weekend work; answer phone calls whenever crews are on site supporting your projects; respond to emails promptly; and actively lead and participate in project/team meetings.
• Knowledge of Ericsson 4G & 5G Remote Radio Units; JMA and Commscope Remote Electrical Tilt Antennas, hybrid cables, and CPRI mux/patch panels.
• Great understanding of project management, National Electrical Code requirements, environmental requirements including hazardous material, spill prevention, and other regulatory guidelines, general building maintenance, and vendor maintenance.
• Good understanding of cell site design/engineering, construction, real estate, regulatory, and operations.
• Highly proficient in computer applications: Google Gmail, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
