Job Title: Research Technician
Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 hourly (40 hours weekly)

DUTIES:
Background: Based on the new curriculum in TCOP Pharm D (P1-P3) the laboratory-based Drug Delivery Course and Advanced Compounding course teaching was enhanced for increasing efficiency and optimization of time and resources. The OPS Laboratory Technician position is available based on the changes:
Research Technician (Drug Delivery Systems)
Research Activities (55%)
Assist in completing pharmaceutical and drug delivery research, conduct experiments, using in vitro and in vivo protocols. Work in Biological Safety Hood, using aseptic techniques, cell culture, cryo-freezing cells, using microscope, digital imaging and measurements using ImageJ and Fuji systems. Ability to collect data in laboratory as assigned by supervisor perform analysis.
Assist DPS office with inventory, equipment repair ordering, calibration of equipment, compliance, Ordering and receiving the research supplies, reconciling the receipts, laboratory maintenance, and support to PI. Assist with online ordering systems such as Quartzy and help organize the research supplies received and reconcile the receipts.
Academic Activities (40%)
Perform assigned work to arrange hands-on laboratory component for Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) course in Drug Delivery systems and Advanced Compounding and related activities. Assist with professional activities and advancing the teaching laboratory activity for student learning. Ability to effectively communicate with supervisor, course coordinator, faculty, staff, and students with written and oral communication. Core tasks will include arranging the compounding laboratory stations for each student. Including, setting the chemicals, glassware, taking inventory, manage the ordering list and keep track of chemicals and location, use of necessary equipment for smooth utilization of the items provided for student learning in drug delivery learning space. Perform washing of glassware, laboratory ware after completion of labs and prepare the drug delivery labs for next session in a timely manner. Candidate should be experienced with use of Standard operating protocols, use of analytical balances, hot plates, aseptic hoods, candidate should be able to handle common laboratory chemicals, and ability to transfer chemicals into small containers.
Overall based on the critical needs of research and teaching needs in DPS/TCOP, it is critical for the hire to be able to work independently based on the assigned tasks.  Provide reports and communicate for progress in weekly meetings and follow plan for next steps.
Ability for use of technology including but not limited to email, online ordering system, labeling of containers using printing technology, place requests, using MS office.
Understand and follow USF EH&S compliance and other procedures.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
• This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of laboratory or research experience. College coursework in a natural or physical science may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED:
• BS in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, or related areas, with experience as pharmaceutical compounding specialist, pharmacy technician, or Pharmaceutical Industry. Compounding Pharmacy Technician certification is preferable.
• Compounding pharmacy technician, with work related to arranging and performing pharmaceutical admixtures, preparation of formulations, dosage forms, organic or synthetic chemistry laboratory assistant.
• Training and background in drug delivery, dosage forms, pharmaceuticals, compounding and pharmacy technician experience. Worked previously as laboratory assistant in chemistry, or other related fields.
