At Moffitt Cancer Center, accurate labwork and bloodwork is critical to what we do. When one of our oncologists obtains a tissue or fluid sample for diagnostic purposes, he or she will send it to our Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Program, where a skilled team of experts will assess the sample for specific characteristics. Located on-site, our state-of-the-art lab is equipped with the latest diagnostic technologies, allowing our pathologists to quickly complete a wide range of fluid and tissue analyses. Moffitt#s pathology team includes board-certified surgical pathologists, molecular pathologists, hematopathologists and laboratory medicine specialists. This team is experienced with all forms of cancer, from more common gynecological and gastrointestinal cancer types to rare and unusual malignancies. Our knowledgeable team also assists with rapid turnaround times and efficient and accurate results reporting. Our labwork and bloodwork team can provide the following services: Cellular tissue or organ examinations Molecular tissue or organ examinations Evaluations of tumor characteristics Blood analyses Urine analyses DNA analyses Tissue analyses Genetics evaluations The Blood Draw Clinic at Moffitt Cancer Center sees 400 patients on a daily basis.# We are currently looking for a Medical Office Assistant.# Position Highlights: The Medical Office Assistant represents and supports the mission, philosophy and goals of the Moffitt Cancer Center through interaction with patients and/or their representative for registration, insurance, scheduling, order entry, screening and medical necessity. The Medical Office Assistant combines the duties generally assigned to Medical Assistants and the Patient Service Representative. The Medical Office Assistant will be responsible entering lab orders and for running his or her assigned bay, where they will perform blood draw tasks, venal punctures and accessing ports. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have the following: At least 1 year of experience in an outpatient high volume phlebotomy clinic as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist. At least 2 years healthcare with managed care, insurance verification, collections, and authorizations. Prior experience entering lab orders.# Prior experience with venal punctures and accessing ports.# CMA certification from an accredited institution #Responsibilities: Interacting with patients to obtain information for accurate records Scheduling appointments, verifying orders Facilitating patient flow, conducting initial patient screening and communicating pertinent information. Preparing and maintaining the clinic exam room and equipment Providing support to the provider during clinic by assisting with phone calls and faxes. Recognizing emergency situations and implementing emergency procedures. Administering first aid and CPR. Credentials and Qualifications:### High School Diploma Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR Military Medical Technician training BLS Certification 1 year of experience in an outpatient clinic setting. 2 years of demonstrated customer service skills.#
