Tampa General Hospital is home to one of the busiest transplant programs in both the state of Florida and the nation.  The transplant unit has 48 private rooms dedicated to organ transplant and post intensive care ventricular assist device (VAD) patients.  The nursing team works closely with the Tampa General Medical Group (TGMG) delivering exceptional care using a multidisciplinary approach.  This is a unit of elite class, highly trained, and qualified nurses where miracles happen every day.
Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Office Supervisor, follows established policies and procedures; gathers and records all necessary information in the process of financially clearing  a procedure.  Demonstrates expertise with all proficiencies of a PSS 2. Responsible for verifying demographic, confidential clinical and financial information necessary to accurately and efficiently execute insurance verifications,notifications, authorizations, precertifications, et al, to support claim processing and reimbursement  for scheduled and unscheduled services. Responsible for calculating, communicating and collecting all patient financial responsibilities based on the patient’s health plan(s) prior to the scheduled date of service. Recognizes and adheres to all CMS, JCAHO, and HIPAA requirements when validating the account.  Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Required Skills
High School Diploma or G.E.D required.  AA/AS degree preferred.  Completion of an approved medical terminology certification or med term course completion with satisfactory scores.  Minimum of (3) three years experience with scheduling and/or registration and/or insurance verification in a healthcare setting.  Expertise with computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Database programs.
