Molekule, Inc. is looking for a Senior Research Scientist in the fields of advanced materials and/or surface science to join our Research & Development (R&D) team. The successful candidate will apply experience in materials synthesis, heterogeneous catalysis, semiconductor physics, and related fields in the development of novel catalytic materials and other devices for use in indoor air purification and other technological areas.
Leading the research and technological development of new technologies; compiling, analyzing and presenting relevant scientific data (e.g., as published reports or presentations); and support of other R&D professionals are the critical functions of this role.

What you will own: • Lead research in the development of advanced materials with variety of technological applications
• Act as subject matter expert in the fields of heterogeneous catalysis and semiconductor physics across the organization
• Work closely with interdisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and technologists on the R&D team, as well as other internal and external stakeholders, to develop and complete project goals
• Design and develop bench-scale prototypes in pursuit of commercialization of novel  materials and devices
• Guide third-party vendors in the construction of novel test devices and apparatus
• Publish reports in scientific or technical journals; present reports at external conferences and/or technical meetings, as appropriate
• In addition to reports and presentations, author patent disclosures and grant applications that support the overall knowledge acquisition of the organization
• Perform all work in accordance with best practices--e.g., in regard to environmental health and safety, business ethics, etc.
What you will bring: • A minimum of 5+ years of postgraduate research experience
• PhD in Chemical engineering, materials science, or related fields
• Hands-on experience in the growth and characterization of nanomaterials, including semiconductors
• Ability to write and operate software for collection and analysis of experimental data (e.g. MATLAB, LABVIEW, etc.), and implement using advanced data acquisition tools
• Experience with computational modeling tools (ANSYS, COMSOL, etc.)
• Experience with operando catalytic spectroscopy a plus
• Experience with metal-oxide based sensing platforms a plus
• Ability to work as an experimentalist with a broad range of experience in experimental design, measurement, and data acquisition techniques
• Proven record of publication in peer-reviewed journals
• Ability to succeed and thrive as an integral R&D team member in a heterogeneous, multidisciplinary environment
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills; ability to present ideas and data as both published reports and oral presentations (e.g., Powerpoint)
