Production Line Leader
Summary/Objective: The Production Line Leader position is responsible for leading overall continuous improvement of line-level metrics across multiple shifts. Accountable for line-level performance on a 24-hour/seven-day per week basis. Develop line-level tactical gap-to-goal plans as well as mid-range strategic plans. Drive overall line performance through the implementation of continuous improvement processes and development of a zero-loss culture. Build capability across hourly and salaried teams with regards to Reliability Technology. Lead team members to identify, manage, and execute the plant’s process improvement opportunities. Manage production staff to attain production and quality goals. Identify problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolves issues. Ensure production resources including materials, equipment and human resources are available as needed to maintain production schedules. Support continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost and customer service. Responsible for managing and owning various functions of the business and create an engaged and team-oriented workforce in order to improve business results.
Essential Functions/Physical Demands:
Act as the primary resource for line-level production teams across multiple shifts to help drive TMOS and world-class results in the areas of Safety, Quality, Cost, Productivity, Delivery, and Engagement. Manage production and maintenance activities across multiple shifts to meet plant goals efficiently and effectively. Lead and engage team members to improve systems, processes, and procedures. Lead by example and demonstrate corporate and plant values. Actively reinforce key TMOS concepts every day through coaching and auditing of team members. Maintain team’s adherence to employee handbook, GMPs, and other plant policies and procedures. Coach team in personal accountability, giving and receiving feedback, root-cause analysis, problem solving, decision making, trade-off analysis, interpersonal communications and external interactions. Troubleshoot problems and implement corrective actions through root-cause analysis. Seek and provide resources for team and provide necessary training that will assist the team in reaching its goals. Conduct frequent safety coaching and lead implementation of safe work practices. Lead and/or actively participate in Focused Improvement Teams to improve Safety, Quality, Service and Cost. Lead the team in tracking and understanding Key Performance Indicators, gap analysis, and create action plans to address performance gaps. Actively reinforce key TMOS concepts every day through coaching and auditing of team members. Provide frequent informal and periodic formal job performance feedback to team. Facilitate and react to non-routine and crisis situations. Respond to and utilize communication tools appropriate (e.g., cell phones, computers, radios, etc.). Provide scheduled personnel coverage for vacations, holidays, occasional days, leaves of absence, and for other crews. Understand, observe, and comply with the handling/usage of color-coded container policy. Immediately notify maintenance of any repairs or adjustments required. Possess thorough understanding of all company policies, including GMPs and safety policies. Communicate effectively with other departments, managers, and other employees.

3. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, holding, gripping, reaching, pulling, stooping, extensive bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, extensive wrist movements, and climbing all day. Work can be performed in extreme heat and cold environments.
4. Must possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment and handle product appropriately.
5. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing 50 pounds above shoulder level.
6. The employee must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
7. The employee must work safely at all times and follow all OSHA (safety) guidelines.
Food Quality, Safety and Security: The employee initiates action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to food safety and the quality of the product, processes, quality or safety system. The employee stops production, if necessary, to correct food safety issues, quality issues, or safety problems. The employee identifies and records any problems relating to food safety, quality of the product, processes, quality system or safety system. The employee controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of food safety or quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected. The employee informs line supervisor, production manager, QA manager, or other management personnel of any food safety or quality issues or of any processes which become noncompliant with specified requirements.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has supervisory responsibilities over the line technical expert and all other production employees. Dotted line supervision for the Line Maintenance Planner.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, heat, cold, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, with rotating days off lasting a minimum of 8 hours and a maximum of 12 hours in most circumstances.
Travel: No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing supervision experience required or equivalent experience. Working knowledge of production equipment and systems including maintenance activities. Proven ability to supervise people in a construction form is required. A strong team orientation and positive attitude is required. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and under varying degrees of stress. Ability to interact well with individuals at various levels of the organization. Proficient use of Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required. Excellent communication skills including oral, written and listening skills required. Ability to think ahead and plan over an extended time period and prepare action plans to achieve results. Project management experience is required. Ability to retrieve and analyze date from Line Event Data System.
Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related discipline preferred. Appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of education. Food or beverage manufacturing experience preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously. Ability to work as a member of and/or lead cross-functional teams. Ability to manage and prioritize one’s own time consistent with the needs of the business. Ability to perform formal root-cause analysis to identify and resolve downtime/inefficient operational issues. Knowledge of TPM and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
