POSITION DESCRIPTION :
A challenging opportunity is available for a self-motivated, hard-working individual to fill a Park Services Specialist position at Hillsborough River State Park. The candidate will be required to work independently with minimal supervision providing park, vehicle and equipment maintenance, resource management, administration and protection of park facilities and guests.  Maintenance duties will include, but are not limited to, using power and hand tools to perform such work as carpentry, cement work plumbing and electrical. The applicant must be able to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
MAINTENANCE: Performs and assists in the supervision of repairs, maintenance and construction of park buildings; to include carpentry, brick, cement block, plumbing, wiring, roofing, trim, framing, foundations, exterior and interior finish, painting, floors, doors and windows. Performs and assists in the supervision of maintenance and repairs to sewer and potable water systems, commercial pool and waste water treatment plants. Performs and assists in the supervision of maintenance and repairs to electric and gas or diesel pumps, motors, generators and compressors. Installs and assists in the supervision of maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to electrical wiring, breaker boxes, junctions and power supply to facilities and equipment. Installs and assists in the supervision of maintenance and repairs to pipe, valves, sinks, wash bowls, sewers and other sanitary fixtures. Performs and assists in the supervision of maintenance and repairs of all vehicles and equipment, including cars, trucks, tractors, mowers, sprayers and all power tools. Performs and assists in the supervision of repairs to air conditioning and heating equipment. Operates all park maintenance equipment, including vehicles, tractors, saws, drills, presses, torches, welders, grinders and all tools. Performs field duties as needed which include but not limited to trash removal, cleaning of restrooms, customer service and rule enforcement.
ADMINISTRATION: Prepares vehicle reports, maintenance logs and maintenance schedules. Prepares purchase orders and requisitions as necessary to secure materials for repair, maintenance and upkeep of park facilities, equipment and vehicles.
Knowledge, skills and abilities , including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Knowledge of procedures and methods used in the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of: wooden, block and steel structures; plumbing; electrical systems; vehicles; small engine equipment; and other equipment. Skill in : operation of hand, power and bench tools and operation of a variety of motorized vehicles. Gaining voluntary compliance with rule enforcement. Ability to: repair and maintain wooden structures including furniture; do brick and cement work; repair and adjust plumbing equipment; troubleshoot and repair electrical systems; work independently to prioritize and plan maintenance actions; understand and apply rules, directives and policies, laws and regulations;  plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; read blueprints; communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; conduct routine inspections, identify, investigate and solve problems; lift up to 40 pounds and assist in carrying lumber and other supplies weighing 80 pounds or more; operate radio equipment; work outdoors in all weather conditions;  work rotating shifts to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays; maintain a valid driver’s license.
