Position Summary:
Directs activities of workers concerned with the construction of bridge superstructure concrete decks or other construction projects by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• Confers with, and directs, supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning/executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
• Manages multiple labor crews and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this group. May also directly supervise craft employees union/non-union and subcontractors.
• Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction based on starting and completion times, as well as staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
• Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and adheres to construction schedules.
• Procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
• Responsible for managing and scheduling various sub-contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, safety training and orientation of new employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Coordinates with supervisory, engineering, inspection, and supplier personnel to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
• Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used, costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
• Consistently improves the operational process by implementing more effective methods.
• Maintains effective and professional relationships with managers, engineers, owner, and inspectors.
• Travel as required to attend meetings, site visits, training, etc.  Ability to relocate as needed.
Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of OSHA and other relevant safety requirements and regulations.
• Must have hands-on experience with heavy formwork systems including, but not limited to: foundations, grade-beams, slab on grade, supported slabs and beams, edge forms, construction joints, columns, walls, etc.
• Must understand basic principles of concrete structures such as concrete formwork systems, mix designs, admixtures, curing, cold and hot weather procedures for concrete placing and finishing.
• Must understand cost and budgets.
• Must be physically capable of climbing and working at heights.
Education/Experience
• Equivalent work experience or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related engineering degree. A minimum 5 years construction supervision work experience in the related field.
