MINIMUM BI-WEEKLY RATE OF PA Y: $ 1,128.63 (In accordance with current spending restrictions, if the appointment is an internal promotion, the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever higher.)

POSITION DESCRIPTION :
This is independent work assisting the detention center Superintendent in the coordination of administrative tasks and/or assignments which are complex in nature and very broad in objective with integration of diverse functions.  Work involves the performance of administrative activities which involve independently planning administrative objectives and priorities.  Work also involves the independent formulation, analysis and recommendation of changes in policies, rules and regulations.
This is work providing administrative support too by conducting research, preparing reports, handling information requests, assisting with program management, and assisting constituents.
Responsible for managing the Superintendent's calendar and schedule for meetings, conferences/calls, and training; creates agendas, records minutes and prepares travel.  Represents the Superintendent in matters as authorized.
Supervises employees by assigning work, motivating, suggest training as needed, reviewing progress and assessing performance. Provides and recommends training for employees and ensures that training records are accurate.
Completes annual employee evaluations and expectations in People First.
Receives visitors and oversees new hire orientation.  Maintains current information and recommends actions.
Manages and directs fiscal and human resource actions for the facility including hiring, purchasing, discipline, personnel and serves as backup for both positions.  Reviews work and coordinates their activities and advises on matters of policy and administration.  Interprets and administers policies.  Process routing matters within established policies.
Prepares and submits all weekly, quarterly and monthly detention center reports in a timely, accurate and concise manner to the Superintendent, including but not limited to budget and vacancy reports. Reviews records and reports and recommend solutions.
Performs special assignments, investigate subject matter, research issues and prepare responses.
Collects, inputs, and analyzes data in the Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS) and Detention Facility Management System (DFMS) as required to respond to specific tasks. Prepares reports using data in JJIS and DFMS in support of the Superintendent.
Serves as approver for My Florida Market Place requisitions.
Receives, reviews and prepares all mail and correspondence for the center.
Performs other related duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Knowledge of Juvenile Justice laws and policies;
Knowledge of detention services policies and procedures;
Knowledge of basic management principles and practices;
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems;
Knowledge of supervisory techniques;
Knowledge of system-wide resources;
Ability to use good verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data;
Ability to analyze effectiveness of service programs;
Ability to work independently;
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports;
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of Human Resource experience.
Administrative, Finance and Human Resource experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

If initially hired with an out-of-state license, the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida state driver’s license within 30 days of hire. Licenses suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/Employment/education only licenses) and some types of restricted licenses are not acceptable.  Licenses that have Corrective Lenses Restriction are acceptable, provided the driver wears corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.
