What you will be doing if you are offered this position & accept:
Our Energy Management Commercial Analyst – Varies (Level 1 & higher) supports all of Tampa Electric Company’s mandated commercial conservation programs and communicate the safe and efficient use of energy to our customers. The Commercial Energy Management Team (CEMT) also supports marketing and sales of commercial Zap Cap and renewable energy programs. The analyst is responsible to ensure the programs are delivered in accordance with the Florida Administrative Code (FAC) and in a fashion that meets customer’s expectations. The analyst must consistently adhere to the standards that the company has filed with the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC), in a cost-effective manner, as it relates to all demand side management (DSM) programs.  Also assists in modifying and /or changing commercial conservation programs and supporting systems, as necessary.
Level 1 – Energy Management Commercial Analyst I :
This position performs under direct to moderate supervision. In order to develop competence, they will receive training and mentoring from the Supervisor/Manager, Energy Analyst Team Members, Program Managers, outside educators, and administrative staff.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
• Successfully completes training and acquires certifications necessary to support commercial conservation programs. Maintain a high level of competence through ongoing training as it relates to industry and company product knowledge. Training includes satisfactory completion of Tampa Electric’s in-house commercial energy auditing training program for small commercial facilities within 3 months; and large commercial/industrial facilities within 12 months of obtaining the position. This training includes classroom study and field application of energy analysis, commercial building structure, HVAC system, insulation and duct materials and installation techniques, renewable energy sources, all conservation practices and measures identified in the FAC, conservation and energy alternatives, acquired knowledge of tariff agreements, regulatory requirements, basic electricity and metering, and all customer service programs.
• Perform free energy audit for commercial customers. Audits include analysis of current energy usage patterns and habits, evaluation of building structure, HVAC ductwork, attic insulation, and relative condition of major appliances and/or equipment. Completes calculations to determine energy costs and educates customers on conservation programs. Qualifies customers’ participation in other conservation programs and recommends conservation measures and practices based on cost/ payback ratio.  Delivers audits in an understandable manner to motivate customers’ participation in conservation programs and implement changes in their energy use habits.
• Performs verifications for all commercial conservation programs. Evaluates existing equipment and conditions through visually examination and physical measurement and calculation to determine if customer meets eligibility requirements. Explains requirements for conservation programs, expected benefits, and known limitations of programs to customers. Schedules contractor appointments and issues pre-approval certificates when necessary. Approves limited exceptions and/or deviations to conservation programs while maintaining the integrity of the program.
• Performs pre- and post-verifications, as required by various conservation program standards. Verifies work performed is in accordance with programs standards, notifying customers and/or contractors of any remaining deficiencies and corrective measures necessary, and initiating applicable customer/contractor rebates and/or incentives payments once programs standards are met.
• Resolves High Bill inquiries via phone and field visit, using audit techniques and appliance and equipment load calculations to troubleshoot potential malfunctions. Educates customers on meter integrity, operation, and reading of electric meters. Determines and initiates follow-up service needs, alternative services, and completes resolution of customers’ concerns.
• Markets commercial Zap Cap and renewable energy programs to achieve department goals.
• Provides emergency management planning support as determined by Supervisor/Manager and company guidelines during any company emergency.
• Assists in projects and additional assignments as directed by Supervisor/Manager, which includes supporting residential programs and activities during peak periods.
• Provide back office support, energy management program expertise, and program analysis. Support includes responsibility for direct customer interaction and response, problem resolution, and follow up as direct backup to the Commercial Program Manager, on a day-to-day basis, as needed. This individual has a working knowledge of all EM supporting programs, rebates, pre- and post-verification requirements, data sources, methods of collection, and standard methods of analysis necessary to provide customer coverage and perform commercial analyst activities, including processing incentive payments.
Qualifications:
These are the minimum requirements of this position.  Candidates may qualify in this multi-graded position as Level 1 & higher level based upon skills, experience, and education. Consideration for higher level position will require more experience directly related to the duties of the job in addition to meeting more of the preferred qualifications and requires more independent judgment, accountability and oversight, leadership and/or subject matter expertise in performance of this position.
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Experience:
Required:
• Associate degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
• Certified Energy Auditor (CEA or CEAIT) and/or Business Energy Professional (BEP or CEAIT) must pass examination required within one year of obtaining position.
• Valid driver’s license and use of reliable personal vehicle necessary to perform field activities anywhere in Tampa Electric’s service territory.
• 3+ years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position; or 2 years Energy Management experience with CEAIT, CEA or BEP certification.
Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
• Current CEA and/or BEP certification.
• 5+ years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position.
• Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis in Excel, the Energy Efficiency Collaboration Platform (EECP), and use of laptops and wireless technologies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Satisfactory completion of Tampa Electric’s in-house commercial energy auditing training program for small commercial facilities within 3 months, and large commercial/industrial facilities training program within 12 months of obtaining the position; Demonstrate proficiency through direct field observations the ability to conduct small commercial audits within 3 months of obtaining the position.
• Above average mathematical, analytical, and decision-making skills to perform calculations necessary to administer conservation programs; ability to work independently, as well as, in a self-directed team; demonstrated proficiency in the knowledge of and ability to interpret Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data; knowledge of Tampa Electric’s standard grid system.
• Be familiar with all company commercial conservation programs.  Knowledge of and experience in energy conservation practices and high bill resolution techniques to ensure proper follow-up to customer concerns. Have knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical systems, surge protection devices, and metering to provide technical information to customers.
• Above average oral and written communication skills required to effectively present findings and information to customers. Have proficient planning and organizational skills. Above average judgment and decision-making skills needed to provide customers with the appropriate conservation recommendations and qualifications for the rebate programs.
• Autonomous work schedule to maximize time available for field activities and meet customer requests in a timely manner which is within requirements of the FPSC.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Schedule typically Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm with some extended work hours as necessary depending on workload.  Driving up to 25% of the day.  Up to 75% spent in combination of working with Customers, working outdoors in attics, on roofs, walking, bending, and climbing and up to 25% spent in office supporting documentation of program activities and providing back office support.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS
• Physical ability to safely lift, carry and maneuver a 35-lb. ladder; and climb throughout attics or onto roofs either with internal access or ladder to perform audits and verifications in adverse conditions such as superheated attics and outdoors in sun and rain.
