Knox is the first financial institution for property investors. We’re changing how homeowners and property investors build wealth. Knox makes it easy for homeowners to turn the home they’re moving out of into an income property and for investment property owners to optimize and simplify their investment portfolios. Venture funded, we’re building an extraordinary team to help us expand rapidly. After successfully launching our platform in 7 cities, we are excited to expand our platform across the country. We are looking for a hands-on, results driven, candidate who gets things done!
Ideal candidate, is a business person excited to grow with Knox as you step into running your market and then a business segment. Experience and passion for investing, finance, and real estate and the desire to change how people build wealth gets you out of bed in the morning. You’re willing to get out in the field, interact with clients to learn the role ground up. You’ll help us build systems, processes, relationships, and products.
This position can operate from any market where we operate or will launch soon including Austin, Boston, Orlando, Phoenix, Tampa, Dallas, or Houston. You’ll be growing alongside peers in cities across the US and, eventually, around the world. We’re looking for experienced strategic operators that will learn and then perfect our operations and accelerate our growth by launching new products, biz dev partnerships, or new business verticals. While you won’t be working alone, the operational success of your market will largely depend on you.
Successful candidates will likely have some or all of the following experience:
• You have launched a market or product for a rapidly scaling startup before either as the leader of that market/business unit or you were one of the very first teammates. That launch was successful and you grew within the organization.
• You have several years experience serially managing teams to deliver critical sales, product, and operational goals for a high growth startup (Marketplace/PropTech/FinTech), consulting firm, investment bank, or similar.
• You are an entrepreneur that has a successful track record in sales and business development, independently creating and iterating an operations playbook, scaling the playbook with third-party or in-house tech products, and delivering financial returns for your company and/or your clients.
• You understand investing, property markets, and insurance. You understand property investing, how it creates wealth, the specific ways this can be done, the costs and risks involved, and how investing in real estate in your area is done.
Holding your real estate license already is a plus.
You will be joining an early stage team made up of experienced, successful entrepreneurs with multiple ventures and exits under their belts. The ability to get things done well and quickly is paramount. You will be trained remotely by an experienced launcher then given a lot of autonomy while working within systems and software created to make your job efficient. Your input in improving these systems is critical.
Your short-term goal is to deliver a reliable operation with a world-class customer experience that, along with our demand gen team, drives explosive growth and wins evangelist customers. Your long-term goal is to take those best practices and early-stage learnings, and apply them to new business offerings or improve our technical platform.
Responsibilities:
• Work with the Knox VP of Growth to stand up operations in 3-6 markets.
• Drive and support strong sales growth in your market including supporting customer acquisition, unit onboarding, and addressing client needs yourself and with staff as your markets scale.
• Establish on the ground infrastructure, operations, and relationships with new local vendors as needed in addition to our existing national vendors.
• Hiring and training Property Experts and/or strategic partner’s client acquisition/operations teams to scale the platform across your market if not the entire state.
• Help property owners achieve superior investment returns. Keeping this as your north star, at all times, will make you and Knox successful.
• You will need to understand the cash flow, refinancing, and total investment performance opportunities when interacting with the customer.
• Facilitate tenant leases in partnership with our centralized leasing team.
• After building your Knox systems foundation; identify growth opportunities, pitch new partnerships or product offerings, launch experiments, and create a playbook for the winning formulas at scale.
Requirements, Skills, and Characteristics:
• Highly results driven - You are all about getting it done, achieving goals, and high quality output.
• Market Knowledge - You currently live or have lived in one or multiple of Knox’s current markets for at least 2 years. You know the real estate landscape, understand the profile of the type of home that is appealing to reliable tenants, and have networked with other landlords in the area.
• Management - You have managed a consulting, marketing, sales, and/or operations team and developed them into leaders in your organization. You are comfortable leading by doing, willing to get your hands dirty, and training your team.
• Vendor Management - Experience negotiating and project managing sub-contractors
• Data-driven decision mentality - You are comfortable working with numbers and rely on the data to develop a plan of attack before your gut hunch.
• Split Testing - Dedicated to testing everything and constantly improving based on tight metrics and meticulous attention to optimizing an operating model for performance and output.
• Rapid Growth - Experience in scaling and rapid company growth is helpful. If you do not have this experience, the desire and ability to drink from a firehose of information is required. (Our team has experience from Betterment, Boston Logic, CarGurus, Compass, Everquote, Uber, WeWork and more)
• Passionate about Customers & Mission – Always champions the customer’s perspective. Genuine passion for the Knox mission of Frictionless Ownership and democratizing market-beating wealth creation.
• Local Travel - Ability to travel locally up to 50% of your time to meet with customers and vendors across the Metro area.
• Long-distance Travel - Our team works completely remote today, long term with COVID-19 vaccine roll aiding herd immunity, this role may require up to 25% travel
• Real Estate License Preferred but not required.

Compensation:
Every candidate’s personal financial priorities are different, therefore we can be somewhat flexible in the mix of base salary, commission, and equity. Of course, all members of the Knox team get our generous benefits package.
