Role Value Proposition:
The Accountant – Regulatory Reporting role on the newly formed Life/Health US STAT Reporting Group provides a challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to gain experience preparing U.S. Statutory basis financial statements and related filings.  The Accountant will be able to forge lasting partnerships with a broad range of finance functions, including controllers, fin ops, TAG, investments, tax, and actuarial while learning high level STAT accounting concepts in all aspects of insurance accounting (ex: Reserves, Investments, Reinsurance).
Key Responsibilities:
• Timely and accurate reporting of Statutory financial results (Stat Audit, MD&A, Quarterly Filings and 4/1 filings); Collects and analyzes financial data, ensuring that reporting is in compliance with NAIC reporting regulations
• Coordination of comments/questions received on the filings
• Produces quarterly and annual RBC
• Play a key role in providing support for the annual audit and quarterly review activity with external and internal auditors; Completion of quarterly entries
• Assist with completing quarterly board slides
• Complete Form B filings and review Audit Checklists
• Setup and lead Flip the Page meetings for the Audit and MD&A
• Review of the ledger and subsequent follow up with groups that need to do additional entries
• Research accounting rules and regulations to make recommendations regarding company policy
• Perform various high-level analytical analyses over fluctuations in accounts and document results
• Continuously monitor, recommend, and implement process improvement initiatives to increase effectiveness and productivity
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
• 5+ years’ experience in financial reporting and/or analytics role
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including but not limited to v-lookups, h-lookups, sumifs, links, and pivot tables
• Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite
• Must have ability to analyze data and problem solve complicated transactions
• Ability to plan, multi-task, prioritize responsibilities
Preferred:
• Knowledge of Statutory Insurance concepts, principles, and reporting
• Experience with Workiva (Wdesk) and Alteryx
• Ability to modify, develop and improve procedures and policies to meet reporting needs/requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience
