Tasked with maintaining, supporting and assisting with new initiatives as necessary to meet the business needs. The database administrator will be relied upon by RoomsToGo (RTG) to keep its most valuable systems running normally and not interrupt normal day-to-day business. As a member of the Data Management team, you will be expected to be on an on-call rotation and be the database expert when on-call. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time. The candidate should possess a passion for operational excellence and possess excellent interpersonal and soft skills.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Monitor system health to ensure a high level of database availability for RTG
• Perform regular measurement and capacity planning of the database infrastructure
• Perform optimization of systems that have been reported to have business performance impact
• Properly escalate support issues when identified
• Analyze and diagnose issues reported to the help desk and escalate per RTG processes
• Ensure current maintenance routines are optimized and are executed as per industry best practices
• Maintain and recommend backup strategies as per industry best practices
• Maintain and recommend security strategies as per industry best practices
• Create and maintain appropriate documentation of the database environment
• Consult with business users to properly capture requirements pertinent to their database capacity needs
• Assist with the installation and configuration of new database instances
• Introduce new technology and techniques for optimizing database infrastructure
• Assist with developing roadmaps and strategic direction for data management
• Assist in troubleshooting production code integration issues
• Assist in the development of new database code as assigned by management
• Participate in weekly meetings with other IT departments to coordinate efforts on cross-functional projects
KEY OUTPUTS:
Efficient resolution of problem tickets assigned by the helpdesk
Represent the Data Management team in morning health check meetings
Successful installation and configuration of SQL Servers based on RTG configuration standards
Assistance with patching SQL Servers to meet current patch levels
On-call availability for production down-time or off hours deployments
Assistance with technical documentation standards

Timely resolution of helpdesk tickets
Regular participation in morning health check meetings
Evaluate and recommend solutions to user requests for production data updates

Supports application product owners
Participates in and supports cross department development initiatives
Proactively reviews production servers to determine compliance with RTG standards

Qualifications
A combination of the experience, education, and training listed below which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position.
Experience
2 years or more hands-on technical experience with TSQL development
2 years or more hands-on technical experience with SQL Server database administration
Understanding of how SSIS is used
Participation in projects as a technical developer or engineer
Presentation skills to executives or technical developers
Candidates need to have verifiable expertise with:
o Technical experience and understanding of TSQL coding best practices
o Technical experience and understanding of SQL Server Administration
o Understanding of working in an Agile development methodology
o Knowledge of current SQL Server TSQL features and create TSQL programs.
Candidates should have verifiable expertise with:
o SQL 2016 TSQL Features
o SQL 2016 Administration Features
o Working as a member of a large enterprise IT team
o Team Foundation Server, Azure DevOps or other source control system
o Create basic OLAP and OLTP architectures to load dimensional data.
o Knowledge of different Azure SQL technologies (Azure SQL and Managed Instances)
E ducation and Training
Bachelor s degree in computer science or information systems or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Demonstrated desire to continue to further your knowledge of your profession through advanced degrees, blogs, published articles, certifications and participation in local professional SQL organizations
Formal training regarding and/or advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server or similar RDBMS
P hysical demands / Working conditions
Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required
Employee will be responsible for the development of critical enterprise applications and will be required to be accessible via cell phone outside of normal business hours
