Job Description
The Attorney - Estates & Trusts will monitor and supervise estates and trusts where Shriners Hospitals for Children is a beneficiary; perfecting conveyance and title to assets bequeathed to Shriners Hospitals for Children; verify receipt of all assets to which Shriners Hospitals for Children is entitled. The Attorney - Estates & Trusts will identify legal issues, including tax and environmental affecting Shriners Hospitals for Children's interest and pursuing legal remedies and negotiating settlements, overseeing litigation, including will contests, reformations, depositions, hearings, mediations, and preparing legal documentation with regard to the above. The Attorney - Estates & Trusts will monitor, supervise, review and prepare documents related to routine and complex real estate transactions, subdivision of property, development of real estate; overseeing and Institute litigation affecting Shriners Hospitals for Children's interest in real estate, including, but not limited to, environmental issues, foreclosures, evictions, default, eminent domain and issues related to co ownership of property. The Attorney - Estates & Trusts will work with donors and their legal counsel and tax advisors to implement and effectuate donations to Shriners Hospitals for Children through direct donations, planned giving, and deferred donation arrangements, including, but not limited to, pooled income funds, charitable remainder trusts, limited liability company (LLC), limited partnership interests, life insurance and annuities. Miscellaneous corporate and tax research, including, but not limited to, filing of property tax exemptions, filing and prosecuting property tax appeals. The Attorney - Estates & Trusts will work with outside counsel on tax matters.

• Tax/Corporate/Miscellaneous Legal (10%)
Job Requirements
THE QUALIFIED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
• 7 or more years’ experience as an Attorney required
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED/PREFERRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in Law required
• Current Florida Law License required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
Leadership Competencies:
• Demonstrated leadership experience in successful contract negotiations, analysis of complex contractual and regulatory issues.
• Ability to schedule, direct, counsel and evaluate employee work and performance
• Skill in conflict diffusion and resolution
Technical Competencies:
• Knowledge of ongoing health care trends, health care legislation and medical reimbursement standards
• Possess expertise in Medicare and Medicaid regulatory and reimbursement issues, and heath care fraud and abuse issues
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
• Experience with hospital operations, healthcare regulatory compliance preferred

• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with administration, physicians, staff, regulators and health care authorities.
• Ability to assume responsibility and exercise authority over assigned work functions
• Ability to organize and integrate organizational priorities and deadlines
• Ability to research, analyze and interpret data and present comprehensive reports
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Work collaboratively with staff from other headquarters departments and hospitals must be comfortable and able to work in a high-volume transactional environment
