JOB DESCRIPTION
Department: Corporate
Position Title: Junior IT Support Technician
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (40 Hours/Week)
Immediate Supervisor: Network Administrator
Position Summary: First point of contact for staff seeking technical assistance for desktop/network/ printer issues. Provide technical support in person, by phone, via email and remote session.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Respond to questions from callers and attend to the following objectives: o Collect caller information o Identify the problem location o Document all case details o Provide trouble-shooting assistance. If resolution is unclear, discuss with Network
Administrator, research the solution, and reach out to applicable vendors/consultants for needed assistance as appropriate. o Prioritize response times o Maintain communication with callers to convey progress towards resolution
• Maintain working knowledge of fundamental operations of commonly used software, hardware, and other equipment
• Set up computers/laptops/tablets/phones for onboarding employees following established protocols and checklists
• Training of new personnel in computer operation
• Backup to Office Manager in Security, Camera, and HVAC control systems
• Other duties as assigned by Network Administrator, such as: o Recovering lost/deleted files from backup system for staff o Testing/updating employee IT procedures o IT project research/development assistance as needed o Assist in the collection of data for various audit requests
Education and Training:
• College degree preferred; minimum high school diploma or equivalent
• A 2 or 4-year degree relating to Computer Information Systems, or comparable work experience.
• High level of support knowledge for desktop operating systems
• Working knowledge of common operating systems and software applications
• Experience and knowledge in working with the MS Office suite, pdf products, and Windows Active Directory
• Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing PC hardware
• Outstanding Customer Service oriented attitude: patience and experience in working with non-technical users; friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well and communicate well with others
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Skilled in diagnosing and resolving technical hardware and software issues
• Ability to handle changing flow of traffic; remain productive during slow times, be able to multi-task effectively during busy times, exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations; identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
• Logical thinking with strong analytical skills and experience in applying these skills
• Additional experience a plus: Microsoft training, prior experience supporting desktops/laptops/printers in a production Help Desk environment, prior experience within
Citrix XenApp, and/or VMware/ESXi virtual environments.
Physical Requirements:
• Must have the ability to sit and/or stand at desk, working on a PC for up to 8 hours a day
• Must have the ability to provide daily communications in person, in writing, by email, or telephonically
• Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken
Working Conditions:
• This employee’s primary work location will be the First Housing headquarters office in
Tampa, Florida, which is a private office building accessible by elevator or stairs with free on-site parking. Note regarding COVID-19: At the time of this writing, all employees are working outside of the office in a properly equipped, dedicated at-home office. This employee would be required to come into the office or to the co-location in downtown Tampa, WOW, as needed for server and network repairs.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
