This is a responsible position that performs a variety of administrative and support functions to assist the Department Director or their Designee in the administration of a major organizational unit.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Considerable knowledge of business English; spelling; math; standard office practices, procedures, and equipment.
• Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office .
• Skilled or ability to become proficient in the use of the Sunguard Public Sector Naviline system.
• Ability to acquire knowledge of departmental practices, City Rules and Regulations, and departmental directives and make decisions in accordance with same.
• Ability to acquire and retain knowledge of Florida Criminal and Traffic Laws.
• Ability to acquire and retain knowledge of Temple Terrace Code Chapter 20 – Traffic.
• Ability to acquire and retain knowledge of quasi-judicial hearings in order to properly conduct the required duties and responsibilities.
• Ability to understand and carry-out complex verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
• Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Training, Certification, and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED preferably supplemented by advance secretarial or office management courses and three years experience in responsible administrative work.
• Or, an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements
• Ability to accurately type a minimum of 50 words per minute (12,500 keystrokes per hour).
• Valid Florida driver’s license.
The City of Temple Terrace is a drug-free workplace.
