Position Summary
The Senior Director, Pension Ops is responsible for the financial and operational success of the National Pension Department. This includes providing direction, leadership, and oversight of the Company's Pension Department as well as supporting Client Services in accordance with Company guidelines to meet and exceed client expectations and operational needs, and satisfy legislative requirements. The Senior Director, Pension Ops is responsible for leading the Pension team as directed or requested by the Chief Operating Officer and the VP of National Pension Operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Plans, organizes, and directs the daily services and operations of Zenith's national pension department and directly supervises Director level staff in Pension.
• Supervises and builds a trained professional and clerical staff responsible for retirement application processing, eligibility determinations, pension calculations, retiree benefit payments and annual projects
• Supervises staff including selecting, training, assigning and evaluating work, counseling, disciplining and terminations
• Manages and provides day-to-day leadership to various professional and administrative personnel within the department
• Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and timely delivery of retirement benefits in accordance with SLA's or Zenith's national processing timelines
• Work in conjunction with the VP of National Pension Operations to implement and confirm adherence to all ZAS Pension Policies and Procedures
• Develops tight internal controls to reduce incidents of error/fraud
• Maintains communications and effective working relationships with management and staff as well as clients, government agencies, unions, participants, attorneys, and consultants.
• Takes action to resolve services issues on clients' accounts and works to stabilize service levels, partnering with Client Services and other divisions of Operations, as needed
• Assists the Vice President in conducting department wide trainings on national pension procedures
• Works with the Pension Implementation Managers and oversees new client implementations and staff training
• Facilitates the recruitment process for vacant positions and any necessary staffing adjustments; serves as a main point of contact for escalations
• Keep abreast of industry changes affecting pension operations.
• Performs other similar and related duties as required.
Working Conditions/Physical Effort
• Typical office situation.
• Typically sitting at a desk or table, working on a computer in excess of 85%.
• Travel may be required
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or accounting; Masters of Business Administration degree preferred
• Minimum of 8 to 12 years of employee benefits operations management and client services experience. Defined benefit pension experience preferred.
• Prior experience managing a remote workgroup.
• Comprehensive applied knowledge and expertise, gained at a professional level, in all aspects of the area of focus applicable to the specified role.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
• Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
• Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills.
