Job Description
Product Manager - Finance and Accounting Management (FAM)
Position Summary:
The FAM Product Manager is a key member of the Finance and Accounting Management team, focused on end user understanding and advocacy, and ensuring ongoing product usefulness and relevance in the context of changing market conditions.
The Product Manager is responsible for the tactical leadership, stewardship and market adoption of an assigned subset of the finance and accounting product portfolio, including the planning, delivery, and support of the product features and capabilities.
The Product Manager will shepherd the functional requirements and internal implementation of an assigned subset of the product portfolio, participating in the technical design, architecture, and conceptual approach on product features ensuring that they align with the business vision, goals and objectives.
Must be a driven, high energy, charismatic leader who works well with a team and is expected to participate as a key contributor in the sales process, consulting engagements, and support escalations in order to drive adoption, evangelize features, and provide subject matter expertise to prospects, clients and internal teams.
Essential Functions:
• Work within a multi-discipline team of product, development and QA professionals to deliver solutions for clients in the architectural, engineering and consultancy industry
• Define and drive business requirements analysis, functional specifications, and the conceptual approach for product features and capabilities, including creating user stories to accurately describe user requirements and expectations
• Facilitate communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams inside and outside the organization, including meeting minutes, status reports and presentations
• Prioritize and coordinate the delivery of product issues and enhancements through the release process
• Prepare, review and approve formal product release notes
• Deliver and maintain formal product documentation, including data sheets, user guides, best practices and knowledge base
• Participate in sales meetings, consulting engagements, support calls and user group forums as a subject matter expert to familiarize prospects and clients, as well as internal teams, on the breadth and depth of the product portfolio
• Participate in level 3 escalation of support issues, providing technical and troubleshooting expertise working closely with clients and the support team
• Assist with quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT), providing guidance to thoroughly test and verify product features and functionality
• Champion and evangelize the product roadmap
• Experience writing functional business requirements and specifications
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high aptitude to learn
• Excellent presentation skills with the ability to develop professional and compelling collateral
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task
• Knowledge and experience with formal SDLC methodologies
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot software issues and provide viable solutions
• Ability to simplify and clearly articulate complex processes for business stakeholders
• Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
• Ability to motivate a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
Skills/Competencies:
1. Business
• Well-versed in market landscape of leading FAM product offerings
• Deep understanding of core finance and accounting processes, and able to contextualize less common and specialized FAM processes
• Subject matter expertise in the competitive market landscape and well-versed in market trends and competitive differentiators
2. Functional
• Proficient in functionality and applicability of entire FAM product portfolio, with ability to communicate best practices on configuration and usage
• Conceptualize and specify major new areas of FAM product functionality
3. Leadership
• Deliver presentations and facilitate discussions on leveraging and evolving FAM product portfolio to address business requirements and/or issues
• Provide guidance and direction to product team and other product stakeholders regarding positioning, design and usage of FAM product portfolio
• Lead feature initiatives to manage and drive successful delivery, working directly with release management, project management, and departmental resource managers
4. Technical
• Correlate end user product issues and modifications to the general component of underlying product architecture
• An understanding of technologies and the ability to use that understanding for troubleshooting issues and designing new solutions
5. User
• Subject matter expert and advocate of FAM end user needs and objectives
• Expertise and knowledge of end user feedback and satisfaction regarding the FAM product portfolio, including product adoption rates, client feedback and competitive market share
Education, prior work experience:
• Bachelor's degree
• 5+ years supporting, facilitating and leading software delivery lifecycle of business applications
• Previous implementation, support or business analysis experience with other ERP systems such as Deltek, MS Dynamics, Oracle, SAP, Sage is desirable
