Full Job Description Founded in 1980, Aikens Funeral Home is a family owned and operated death care provider located in Tampa, Florida. Over the years, Aikens Funeral Home has continuously grown in call volume and provides a great opportunity for stable employment.
We are expanding our team and currently seeking a highly talented, detail oriented, self-starter to fill the position of Administrative Manager . The Administrative Manager must be conscientious, compassionate, sympathetic, comfortable working around human remains, empathetic working with people grieving from the loss of a loved one and possess great communication skills.
The Administrative Manager is responsible for and performs the overall administrative function of the funeral home. This person will supervise and coordinate the activities of two full time Administrative Assistants; two full time Funeral Home Assistants; a part-time staff of Funeral Attendants and report directly to the General Manager and Licensed Funeral Director In Charge.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Typing Newspaper Notices, Funeral Programs, Website Entries, Insurance claim forms, funeral schedules, and other death care related documents
• Ensure the accurate completion and electronic entry of death certificates and other vital documentation
• Place orders from third party agencies in support of client family wishes.
• Coordinate with cemeteries, physicians, florists, casket companies, printers and other agencies in accordance with the wishes of client families.
• Receive and meet with client families, potential client families, office visitors, sales representatives and others.
• Answer telephone and record First Call information
• Answer telephone calls and provide relevant information and direct calls to the appropriate recipient.
• Assist client families during the first viewing of their deceased loved ones
• Assist in the professional development of subordinate team members
• Responsible for funeral home logistical operations, including the ordering and accountability of office supplies and equipment
• General office duties such as filing, faxing, scanning, etc.
• Maintain and update client database as necessary
• Receive and distribute all incoming mail and shipments
• Receive the clothing from client families for their deceased loved ones
• Assist in the preparation of video tribute DVD presentations
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate, associates degree (bachelors preferred) from an accredited college or university.
• Experience: Minimum 4 years of supervisory or managerial experience
• Certification/Licenses: Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver’s License and a great driving record
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must possess good communication skills ; basic knowledge of computers and some software including MS Office suite; ability to prioritize tasks, manage risks and delegate responsibly; must pay strict attention to detail
• Other Requirements: Available for flexible scheduling, to include working weekends and some evenings
