COMMENTS: The Senior Quality Technician will work for Mizkan America, Inc. at the Owensboro, Kentucky (Ragu) sauce plant. The plant is a high speed processing and packaging facility which produces sauces for both the Ragu and Bertolli pasta sauce brands. This position reports to the Senior Quality Manager. This job description reflects assignment of essential functions. It does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
SUMMARY: The primary responsibilities of this position is to maintain all quality documents (policies, SOPs. SSOPs, forms, Master Coding List, etc.), both electronic and hard copies within the facility. This position is also responsible for maintaining the Hold Database and helps to ensure that all non-conforming products stay within facility control .
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain/Strengthen Document Control Program
Support and follow the plant’s Change Management Procedure anytime a change is requested.
Update Document Control Database any time a document is revised (new revision number, date, approval, etc.)
Maintain the Master Coding List (update both electronic and hard copies, alert all departments of change)
Follow-up to ensure all old versions of all documents have been removed from the floor and make only the latest revision available for use.
Maintain formula production sheets
Create production pre-weigh sheets, formula trace sheets
Coordinate shipment of R&D samples
Maintain storage sample inventory
Maintain/Strengthen the Hold Program
Maintain the Hold Database (including inventory and verification counts)
Keep filing record of all Hold Reports
Follow-up and record dispositions for all holds
Participate in bi-weekly Hold meetings to discuss current holds and dispositions
Work closely with logistics to ensure that all held product is placed on hold both physically with a label and electronically in SAP.
Communicate holds with logistics, planning, production, and quality (maintenance and engineering as needed)
Participate in all Internal audits (Mizkan, R&B Foods)
Participate in all External Audits (FSSC, Organic, FDA, State, and USDA if applicable)
Understand all Quality specs
Understand in-process checks
Understand finished process checks
Understand process deviation review
Ability to perform Traceability and Annual Mock Recalls
Create supplier non-conformance reports (components and raw material)
Investigate component issues
Attend monthly vendor partnership meetings and daily meetings with glass vendor
Communicate with suppliers when non-conformance occurs and follow-up for Root Cause/Corrective Action from Supplier
Facilitate and manage weekly hold meeting
Provide recommendations to improve job efficiencies through continuous improvement
Attend required meetings, provide input
Other job duties as required
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS degree in a food science or related field is preferred.
AS and experience in QA would be considered.
Strong Computer skills (Microsoft Suite)
Strong oral, written and listening skills
Complete all required Trainings as follows upon hiring
Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices
Knowledge of Acidified and Low Acid Products

Excellent communication skills
