Job Description
Huntington Ingalls Industries – Technical Solutions Division (HII-TSD) is seeking an Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to facilitate the planning and development of an Underwater Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) as a Service product model. The UUV SME will work closely with our Unmanned Systems Division as well as our ISR Business Area in developing a new strategy and marketing the capability our various Department of Defense customers. The UUV SME must be well versed in the operational planning factors and execution of operations with a variety of Hydroid platforms.
This position is part-time (flexible hours, as needed on the contract per the supervisor).
Essential Job Responsibilities
• Identifies, develops, and implements near-term and long-term business strategies relating to the development of new products, technologies, services, follow-on products, and/or industries.
• Identifies markets, licensing opportunities, and determines the feasibility of business and product development.
• Performs economic analyses on new or improved product opportunities.
• Develops business models and determines market trends to substantiate long-term prospects.
• Coordinates with internal departments in identifying and implementing business development projects.
• May work with sales, marketing and potential customers to determine their needs.
• Develops and disseminates information on a continuous basis to all pertinent parties concerning the fulfillment of project goals and objectives.
• Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences.
• Relies on subject expertise knowledge gained from years of experience or acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
• Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.
• Conducts quality review of materials.
• Serve as the company’s primary point of contact for Underwater ISR operations as a service to the Department of Defense.
• Evaluate progression of project milestones and modify work as applicable to ensure overall project quality and schedule are being attained.
• Regularly engage with key government client stakeholders.
• Assist with analyzing business requirements.
• Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
• 15+ years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13+ years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19+ years relevant experience.
• Must have a completed Defense Acquisition University course related to Project Management (PM) or Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering - Science and Technology Management (SPRDE-S&TM).
• Experience leading and managing UUV operations and Operational Planning for their employment at the Geographic Combatant Commander (GCC) staff level.
• Clearance: Must have active SECRET clearance with the ability to gain and maintain a TS clearance with SCI eligibility based on a Single Source Background Investigation (SSBI).
Preferred Requirements
• Recent experience with US and Coalition Mine Countermeasure (MCM) operations utilizing the Hydroid platforms.
• Experience leading and managing a training team providing multiple courses of instruction in a variety of locations.
• Experience managing performance-based projects and/or programs with multiple international performance locations.
• Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations.
• Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence.
• Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives.
• Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.
• Demonstrated communication skills; both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management.
• Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
