Job Description
Overview
The Senior Manager, Commercial Finance is a key business partner to both the Regional Commercial Leadership team and the National Division Finance team, and is a critical link between Region and State finance teams in driving financial performance through rigorous and accurate financial planning, performance tracking and analysis of pricing, promotions and programming effectiveness.  This role is responsible for translating financial vision to actionable financial planning and analysis capabilities and then embedding standardized tools and processes within the region to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide analysis of state and region-level full P&L performance relative to expectations including variance and profitability analyses at the region and state levels , identify opportunities and provide recommendations for areas of improvement and optimization
• Lead or participate in the development and adoption of new reporting tools as needed
• Lead Commercial Finance training delivery with a team to develop capabilities focused on margin enhancement inclusive of pricing and promotional spend management and effectiveness
• Assist state teams with the development of the annual profit plan (volume/revenue/gross profit) for inclusion in the region’s annual financial plan
• Own the planning, forecasting and analysis of dedicated selling, marketing and general and administrative expenses for the region
• Support the consistent implementation of company initiatives; define guidelines/roadmap to drive local understanding and execution against priorities
• Ensure accurate and efficient production and distribution of financial reports and other business intelligence essential to the commercial organization
• Recruit, select, orient, and train employees; conduct terminations, as needed
• Coach and counsel employees; discipline individuals according to company policy; plan and monitor employee goals, and appraise performance
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
• Five years of experience with an emphasis on financial planning & analysis, commercial finance or a combination thereof
• Experience leading and developing direct reports
• Intermediate-level user in MS Excel and comfortable with basic MS Powerpoint functionality
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
• Experience leading a team in financial planning and analysis, including three years of demonstrated supervisory experience
• Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
• CPG industry experience including previous supplier and/or wholesaler experience a plus
• Demonstrated knowledge of the capabilities of transaction and reporting systems including, but not limited to, SAP, Business Warehouse and IBM Cognos TM1, or similar systems
• Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills to provide information and messages in a way that produce clarity and impact at multiple levels in the organization and across multiple functions
• Strong planning and organizational skills necessary to coordinate the workload around multiple assignments and competing priorities
• Ability to work and partner effectively across functions, geographies and organizational levels to achieve desired goals
Physical Demands
• Physical demands include a considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding, using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor), or adding machine
• Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
• May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
