Job Description The purpose of this job is to dispatch drivers and tanker trucks on both day and night shifts to ensure uninterrupted, safe and efficient crude oil distribution to fulfill customer orders of crude oil.
Essential Functions
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate delivery of daily crude oil loads by utilizing a fleet of owner-operators and/or company drivers in assigned geographic areas
• Respond to a high volume of telephone calls, emails and fleet messages each day to assist drivers with various issues that affect the original dispatch plan and delivery; determine alternative delivery plans and redirect drivers as needed
• Maintain knowledge of multiple dispatch regions in the country by rotating to different dispatching groups regularly and as needed
• Communicate with drivers and management about customer concerns related to dispatch or loads to be picked up, and resolve issues
• Assist with forecasting to improve timeliness of deliveries and issue shipping instructions to drivers to maintain crude oil tank levels at volumes per customer requirements
• Provide ongoing communication with customers that fosters customer satisfaction and grows the business
• Maintain timely and accurate records of all transactions
• Schedule short-notice and urgent delivery requests
• Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure customers and team members are supported at the highest level
• Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications • High School diploma or equivalent certificate required
• Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain management or engineering, or minimum three years’ experience in transportation dispatch or optimization preferred
• Minimum one year’s customer service experience required
• Minimum six months experience as a Dispatcher I required
Specialized Knowledge
• Basic Microsoft Office skills required; intermediate preferred
