JOB SUMMARY :
Under the supervision of the Clinic Director, UITCT is seeking a motivated, self-starter to work as our Medical
Front Desk. UITCT has been a primary health and social services resource for the American Indian/Alaska
Native (AI/AN) community in the DFW area and across the state of Texas for 50 years. The Medical Front Desk ensures smooth and timely delivery of the clinic administrative systems that support scheduling and the patient experience whilst in the clinic.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Establish positive, supportive relationships with patients.
• Answers telephone calls directed to clinic and clinic staff, taking complete, accurate messages as needed.
• Make appointments for medical and dental clinics according to established procedures and patient needs.
• Check patients in and out using the electronic health record.
• Provide telephone reminders to patients to ensure that they are able to keep their scheduled appointments
• Initiates and updates necessary paperwork for patients.
• Screen patients for health insurance from 3rd party and verifies eligibility for assistance programs for uninsured patients.
• Update patient information to the electronic health record.
• Scans administrative documents into the electronic health record.
• Act as a certified applications counselor for the healthcare market place.
• Assist providers in sending out normal result letters.
• Document all client encounters and contracts made on behalf of clients and complete and submit monthly reports.
• Other duties that may be needed to support programs.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to effectively communicate with American Indian/Alaskan Native patients from various social, cultural, and economic and educational backgrounds..
• Highly motivated, organized individual with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
• Great customer service skills, including a great telephone manner.
• Good computer skills.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of medical records and adhere to the standards for health record keeping, HIPAA and Privacy Act requirements
• Basic Life Support Certification.

AMERICAN INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL BE EXERCISED IN HIRING PRACTICES.
