The Director of Perioperative Services is responsible for efficient, effective management of operative service functions throughout the perioperative experience and for coordination of human and physical resources to deliver quality, family-centered, oncologic patient care related to surgical interventions Qualification# Current Florida licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. Bachelors in nursing required. Masters degree (MSN, MS, MPH, MBA, MHA) required. CNOR certification preferred. # Experince: Minimum of 5 (five)# years of nursing leadership role. Prior management experience required. Skilled in strategic and tactical planning to move Nursing Services/Patient Care Services forward in achievement/accomplishment. Possesses thorough knowledge and understanding of patient care processes. Skilled in all phases of budgeting (capital, operational, labor and special projects) as well as financial analysis. has extensive expeince in start up of Operating Room facilities is highly preferred. # Duties and Standards: A. Technical Competencies: 1. Participative development and attainment of departmental objectives congruent with those of Patient Care Services Division and H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. a. Participatively develop and review philosophy, goals and objectives for perioperative services annually, by date and concurrently with practice. b. Mobilize resources to assure quality practice levels and goal achievement. # 2. Organization, management and development of practice. a. Develop, implement and monitor Perioperative Services policies and procedures; annual review minimum. b. Ensure standards of practice are developed, implemented and monitored for perioperative intervention and support services. c. Assess CQI quarterly by process audit, O.R. log review, and ongoing program development and review. d. Interact with multidisciplinary team(s) to accomplish patient-related goals. Operational Management 1. Develop, implement and evaluate departmental budgets. a. Submit capital and operating expense budgets annually by designated date. b. Maintain and analyze financial management monitors to project budgetary needs. 2. Maintain effective and efficient inventory controls, distribution and replacement. a. Ensure inventory management practices are established, maintained and reviewed annually. b. Ensure charge mechanisms are audited on ongoing basis and used to effect appropriate revisions. 3. Maintain optimal intra- and inter-departmental communication and coordination of services. a. Initiate problem solving at appropriate level for successful resolution. b. Conduct monthly staff meetings of which minutes are recorded to reflect proble-solving process. 4. Maintain safe and therapeutic environment for patients, staff and visitors. a. Ensure Risk Management and Infection Control policies are developed and maintained for perioperative services and reviewed annually. b. Develop long range plans for perioperative and anesthesia services. c. Initiate, development of new programs. d. Project and monitor program growth. # Management of Human Resources 1. Orientation, appraisal and development of personnel. a. Assist the Perioperative Educator in the development of an orientation programs based on needs assessment. b. Ensure job descriptions are established, related to performance criteria and updated annually. c. Guest Relations: Communication, cooperation and assistance are given in a clear and courteous manner to all patients, visitors, co-workers, medical staff and volunteers. d. Maintain ongoing programs for guest relations, stress reduction and conflict management. 2. Scheduling of services and personnel. a. Ensure staffing levels are maintained to meet service standards. b. Preference time revisions and booking guidelines are monitored and revised based on ongoing utilization studies. c. Initiate, development of new programs. d. Project and monitor program growth. #
