Moffitt Cancer Center#s Sarcoma Oncology Program specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of over 70 different types of Sarcoma.# Sarcoma is a very rare tumor, only about 1 % of all cancers. Our Sarcoma Oncology Program is based on a collaboration of several experienced specialists, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, orthopedic surgeons, and general surgeons. This diverse team provides a comprehensive range of services.# Our Sarcoma Oncology Clinic cares for 60 patients a day, where patients can access: Diagnostic and staging tests, including pathology and imaging services with results interpreted by radiologists who specialize in sarcoma readings Chemotherapy, including oral and intravenous options and innovative drug combinations including numerous clinical trials. Radiation therapy## Surgery Supportive care, including nutrition consultations, pain management, physical therapy, and social services. Our Sarcoma Oncology Clinic is currently looking for a#Surgical Scheduling Specialist#to join our team. # Position Highlights: The#Surgical Scheduling Specialist#is responsible for scheduling any surgical cases for assigned providers and clinical area(s). Responsibilities may include reviewing surgical orders for accuracy, scheduling any pre-operative and ancillary services, communicating timely and providing the highest level of customer service to the surgical team, inter-departments and the patient and family. This role may interact with attending physicians, fellows/residents, mid-level providers, nurses, and other clinical staff from other peri-operative, clinical, or diagnostic departments.# Responsibilities: Accurate and timely processing of orders entered by the provider into the system for the patients.# Obtain open time for additional surgery scheduling in the operating room, when needed. Timely and appropriate completion of necessary steps in the surgery scheduling cycle using appropriate systems and communicating with appropriate departments. Assembles pre-op surgical packets and scan surgery related documentation timely (i.e., consents, cardiac clearance, ancillary test results). Enter and update surgeries in the surgeons# calendars. Attend and participate in a minimum of two (2) classes, seminars, workshops and/or continuing education as appropriate to maintain professional knowledge and job skills. Develop and update instructions manuals and/or training guides for surgical scheduling processes. Take leadership roles in process improvement and/or departmental initiatives at least once each year. The Ideal Candidate will have: 2 or more years of experience in a hospital, outpatient facility or physician office environment. Surgery scheduling experience Experience with oncology patients Experience with Cerner, Message Center and/or Capstone Credentials and Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED 1 year of customer service experience 1 years of experience in a hospital, outpatient facility, or equivalent. Medical terminology knowledge Knowledge of Microsoft Applications
