Under the leadership of Dr. Adeegbe, the lab#s focus is on understanding the immune components of the tumor microenvironment with the goal of unlocking the keys to the immune system#s potential to eradicate cancer. The lab employs various analytical methodologies including genomic tools, immunological assays and molecular biology techniques to interrogate fundamental questions utilizing animal models of lung cancer and melanoma in addition to understanding immunological features in patient cancers. As one of several labs within the Department of Immunology, there is ample opportunities for scientific interactions. You will be a part of a new lab with the opportunity to acquire new skills and grow intellectually while contributing to exciting projects that have strong relevance to cancer immunotherapy. Position Highlights: General lab management and coordinating day-to-day lab operations Ordering essential lab material and reagents Oversees animal colonies, breeding of multiple mouse lines Provides key technical assistance in multiple projects and to other staff and postdocs as needed Ideal Candidate: Experience with handling lab animals (mice), animal husbandry, maintaining colonies and procurement of tissues Familiarity with in vivo drug administrations Experience in DNA/RNA extractions, gel electrophoresis, RT-PCR Familiarity with flow cytometry and Immune cell phenotyping Familiarity working with animals in a research lab Familiarity with in vitro cell culture of primary and/or tumor cell lines Responsibilities: Maintaining animal colonies Genotyping Gel electrophoresis Intraperitoneal, intravenous, Sub-cutaneous, and oral drug administrations in mice Tumor measurements Tumor cell line maintenance Mouse (and human) tissue culture Mouse and human sample processing, staining, and acquisition by FACS Credentials and Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED, Bachelor#s degree in biology, Molecular Biology, or related field preferred. Hands on research experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Excellent quantitative skills required.
