ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Department of Internal Medicine is the largest and most complex department in the Morsani College of Medicine with over 26 Divisions, Programs and Centers/Institutes, total human resources in excess of 1,000, and an annual all-source budget in excess of $115,000,000.
The mission of the Department is to rank among the elite in the nation in the areas of education, research and patient care. The Department provides education and training for a diverse group of medical students, residents, fellows and health personnel from USF and throughout the world. Highlights of our success include Board Pass Rate at 100%; Resident Match Rate at 100%; Growth of residency program from 80 to 115; growth of fellowship programs from 70 to 96; doximity ranking at 84 and USMLE score average increasing from 200 to 247.
The Department's research activities are numerous and involve both basic and clinical research activities in all subspecialties of Internal Medicine. Our current Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research ranking equals 19. Patient care occurs in our affiliated hospitals (including Tampa General Hospital, H Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, James A Haley VA Hospital, Florida Hospital) as well as our state-of-the-art ambulatory health care centers. The Department also provides healthcare support and services via contractual arrangements with many diverse organizations. The US News & World Report recent rankings of our subspecialties include Endocrinology at 13, Nephrology at 18, and Gastroenterology at 24 and Pulmonary at 28.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Morsani College of Medicine invites applications for a Social and Behavioral Researcher position to join a developing program in the HIV Clinical Research Unit housed at the Florida Department of Health, Hillsborough County. Current projects address several aspects of HIV/AIDS medical treatment through clinical research and investigation pharmaceutical therapies as well as federally funded research to End HIV as Epidemics. Faculty mentors are committed to the career development of staff, students and trainees. Candidates of outstanding caliber, who are self-motivated and independently driven, would be joining a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical research environment. This position reports to the Director of the HIV Clinical Research Unit and adheres to confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines. This position serves a vital link in the communication chain between client/caregiver and the service provider. This position is grant funded.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manages ongoing research studies including: program oversight, performing study participant assessments, collecting and documenting adverse experiences and concomitant medications, submitting adverse event reports to regulatory and/or granting authorities, (assisting as needed) in participant recruitment and retention. Clinical data management, assist with data for research feasibility assessment. Data Collection, retention, data programming and mining, and storage.
• Oversees participant recruitment and retention. Oversees screening protocols, ensuring quality control.
• Oversight and assistance for study start-ups including contract negotiations, IRB submissions, and serving as liaison between the FDOH Research Unit, sponsor and other stakeholders.
• Trains junior USF and/or Florida Department of Health staff. Develops training manuals and provides training services to
outside shareholders.
• Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
• This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a field directly related to the research or data analysis responsibilities and a minimum of one year of research experience; or a Master's degree in one of the same fields.
• Four years of progressively responsible work experience in a field directly related to the research may substitute for the Bachelor's degree.
