Job Title: Research Technician
Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $13.50 hourly (25 hours weekly)

DUTIES:
• OPS Research Assistant will perform laboratory techniques and conduct experiments as assigned for research laboratory work. Techniques will include: Cell culture of muscle cells, cardiac cells and inflammatory cells. Perform the experiments using tissue pathology, immunostaining, cryosectioning, Western blotting, RNA, DNA and quantification. Multiplex for quantification of cytokine release or expression. ELISA assays for expression and activity of target genes and proteins. Physical and chemical characterization of materials and drug/small molecule as needed. Use light and confocal microscopy, morphology, TEM, SEM, zetasizer, and drug delivery and release protocols for drug testing.
• Perform analysis and acquisition of data and generate graphs based on experimental data. Present data at weekly meetings with supervisor and laboratory meetings.
• Research: 90% time
• Other: Analysis and create excel sheets, graphs, Word document draft, and Powerpoint data.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
• This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of laboratory or research experience. College coursework in a natural or physical science may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED:
• Experience in cell culture of muscle cells, cardiac cells and inflammatory cells. Experience in performing the experiments using tissue pathology, immunostaining, cryosectioning, Western blotting, RNA, DNA and quantification.
