Department Overview
CareComm is a high-tech “mission control” clinical command center which uses artificial intelligence and predictive analytics to improve and better coordinate patient care at a lower cost. It has been developed in partnership with GE Healthcare, and features 20 artificial intelligence apps, video walls with 38 large screens, 32 work stations, multiple computer systems, and a multi-disciplinary clinical team that includes doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals. CareComm staff use these resources to predict the needs of patients and team members before they arise. With CareComm, Tampa General can anticipate potential roadblocks and issues in the care process, ensuring that rooms, equipment and medical professionals will be available for patients as soon as they’re needed.
Job Summary
• Responsible for appropriate bed assignment for all patients based on clinical and floor/unit profiles, throughout the hospital at all levels of acuity.
• Works directly with medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, insurance carriers as well other internal and external professionals to assist patients in obtaining health care and financial services.
• May also be responsible for obtaining demographic and confidential clinical and financial information necessary to pre admit, assist R.N. to determine medical necessity for a patient’s emergent or non-emergent external transfer, verify insurance eligibility and benefits, provide notification, and obtain treatment authorization.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Required Skills
• High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
• Minimum of (1) one year of medical terminology;
• Preferred minimum (1) one year experience working with insurance and managed care companies to obtain eligibility, benefits, and treatment authorization.
• CHAA certification preferred .
