Full-time-Billing Office Supervisor 
POSITION SUMMARY: 
· Supervise the day to day activities of the Medical Billing Specialists. 
· Is accountable for the delivery of consistently high quality effective and efficient entry of information into the computer system. 
· Functions under the supervision of PFS Manager. 
· Needs to be familiar with ICD-10, CPT, or HCPCS Coding Systems as well as claim forms such as UB-04 and CMS-1500. 
· Ensures appropriate organizational practices are in use. 
· Promotes good public relations through contacts with patients, practitioners, visitors, employees, peers and the public at large. 
· Maintains confidentiality of patient information. 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
1. Ensures accurate and timely preparation of claims to Medicare, Medicaid and commercial carriers for hospital and clinic services via electronic claims transmission. 
2. Answers inquiries from patients, doctor’s offices or insurance companies in a timely manner. 
3. Ensures that the Medical Billing Specialists are following up on unpaid claims in a timely manner. 
4. Assists in the selection, training, & evaluation of Medical Billing Specialists and initiate personnel actions in accordance with HR policies and organization philosophy. 
5. Maintains an ongoing dialogue with PFS Manager regarding issues and concerns affecting efficiency, productivity, or morale as it relates to those areas assigned. 
6. Assists in maintaining established departmental policies, procedures, objectives and quality improvement program. 
7. Assists in maintaining departmental reports and records as directed. 
8. Assists in implementing department specific goals and objectives in keeping with organizational goals and objectives. 
9. Interacts with others (on the phone or in person) in a positive, professional and appropriate manner. 
10. Works cooperatively with others. Has respect for and an understanding of the contributions of all team members. 
11. Attends required meetings and actively participates on committees. 
12. Protects patient confidentiality by promoting appropriate staff communication practices. 
13. Performs other duties as assigned. 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 
MINIMUM EDUCATION 
High School Graduate or GED 
PREFERRED EDUCATION 
High School Graduate or GED 
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE 
1 – 2 years with a medical background preferably in billing. 
Needs to be familiar with the ICD-10, CPT, or HCPCS Coding Systems as well as claim forms such as UB-04 and CMS-1500 
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE 
3- 5 years 
Knowledge of clearinghouse submissions and following up on unpaid claims
