Position Summary
Responsible for maintenance support tasks on the Animal Care, Animal Health and Horticulture teams including (but not limited to) pressure washing, cleaning acrylic windows, squeegeeing, chopping food, washing dishes, doing laundry, emptying garbage and picking up trash.  Exact tasks performed would be determined by daily needs and assigned by departmental managers.
Essential Position Functions
• Performs daily maintenance duties according to Animal Care and Health standard operating procedures including, but not limited to, cleaning, food preparation and simple repairs.
• Maintains operating efficiency by seeking additional duties when assigned duties are completed.
• Cleans service and backup areas
• Promptly reports any animal injury, illness or abnormal behavior to the Curatorial team to ensure the highest standards for all animals
• Participates in meetings with managers and staff
Secondary Position Functions
• Understands the interpersonal skills that embody The Florida Aquarium’s values of trust, respect and excellence
• Maintains supplies and equipment necessary for the performance of duties
• Works with volunteers and interns within scope of position
• Delivers extraordinary customer service to all aquarium guests and internal customers, especially Animal Care and Health volunteers.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements and Technical Skills
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Experience with power tools preferred
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed. Early mornings required. Work schedule is subject to change for various events, trainings and needs of the department.
• Must have reliable transportation
