Assistant Category Manager
What Will You Do?
You will be responsible for supporting the eCommerce Merchandising team in maximizing the Company’s business through the development and implementation of web-based merchandise placement strategies. You will support the creation and implementation of a robust online merchandising platform and assist in the creation of compelling marketing and promotions programs. You will research fashion trends, retail landscape and other relevant data and present to eCommerce Merchandising leadership for improved website look, feel and functionality.
What Do You Need?
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Merchandising or related work experience
· 2 years’ experience in traditional retail buying and/or site merchandising for a major department store, specialty retailer or ecommerce operation
· Knowledge of ecommerce and/or web-based retailing
· Knowledge of an enterprise web analytics platform, such as adobe Omniture or Google Analytics
· Knowledge of merchandising, pricing and assortment planning
Primary Job Functions
• Partner with the eCommerce Merchandising team to help implement a compelling, well-balanced merchandising strategy to support the achievement of financial objectives.
• Research fashion trends, retail landscape and other relevant data and present to eCommerce Merchandising leadership for improved website look, feel and functionality.
• Analyze traffic patterns and keep record of customer behavior and shopping patterns; share information and provide recommendations for updates and changes to the website.
• Assist in determining appropriate competitive strategies to drive product conversion and reduce return rates and to ensure the Company is a category value leader.
• Ensure continuity between digital and brick-and-mortar spaces. 6. Analyze reports, draw conclusions and make recommendations regarding products and categories.
• Accurately enter product data into site merchandising systems.
• Communicate with the business, technical teams and external partners to implement new site functionality and enhancements.
• Assist with driving sales and holding to set forth profit margins, through promotions and execution of category/specialty-shop focused marketing strategies.
• Assist in optimizing the online assortment by adding new products and/or categories.
• Assist in executing long-term and seasonal ecommerce merchandising strategies.
• Assist in identifying and onboarding new partners; ensure new products and partners meet the compliance and vendor requirements.
