Summary/General Description of Job:
The incumbent installs, removes, tests, troubleshoots, programs, maintains, and repairs voice and non-voice communications systems including intercom and public address systems, digital switching equipment, miscellaneous telephone, radio, and computer data circuits, and related apparatus required in central switching office. The incumbent is also the COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO) and Secure Voice Responsible Officer (SVRO), and administers those accounts IAW all applicable instructions.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
• Perform technician duties on the High Frequency Global Communications System (HFGCS), VHF Omnidirectional Range/Tactical Air Navigation System (VORTAC) and other Tenant Support systems on Ascension Island, South Atlantic Ocean.
• Provide COMSEC support for CMS material associated with NRL systems and associated communications networks.
• Provide installation and restoration services as required to maintain service and respond to service calls from HFGCS as required.
• Perform maintenance and repair for HFGCS systems at an Echelon Level 1.
• Perform operations and maintenance tasks for the Ascension Television Station.
• Perform maintenance on the Hyrdoacoustic Data Acquisition System (HDAS) to include weekly preventative maintenance checks and repair.
• Responsible for all COMSEC/SVRO material and equipment including but not limited to, reporting any changes to COMSEC requirements to the COMSEC Account Manager (CAM), Destroy COMSEC material as requested, Change COMSEC container combinations, Maintain COMSEC publication files, Courier COMSEC material and equipment, and keep detailed records of all COMSEC operations.
• Operation and maintenance of the systems under general supervision in operating, troubleshooting, testing, repairing, calibrating, and adjusting instrumentation electronics equipment.
• Support routine test operations, checkouts and modifications.
• Responsible for issuing Common Access Cards and maintaining the DEERS/RAPIDS workstation.
• Ability to work irregular shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
• Responsible for property control, quality control, supply functions and callout work.
• Performs other related work as assigned.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):
Mandatory
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to use and understand test and diagnostic measurement equipment, firebird digital test set, network analyzers, power sensors, and multi-meters.
• Valid state Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the Secret level, as applicable to the position requirement.
• Ability to successfully pass an employment background check and/or drug testing required on the contract.
• Must be willing and able to live and work at the remote location of Ascension Island with no family accommodations available.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a current US Passport
• U.S. Citizenship.
Preferred
• Associates Degree in Computer Sciences or Technical School certification.Equivalent years of experience may be substituted for education.
• Possess a current DoD 8570 Certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent.
• Familiar with PC Technician, Server Administration or Cisco Network Administration duties.
• Two (2) years relevant work experience.
• Working knowledge of US Air Force Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS).
• Experience working in a remote overseas location government contract.
