Learning Outcomes:
As an Accounting GBS Intern , you will gain insight into what the day to day work is like in Masonite’s accounting department.  This opportunity will give the intern the ability to learn skills that will provide useful in their future employment as a staff accountant.  Intern assignments will be project-oriented and focus on Accounting activities including:  Month End Close, Journal Entries, Account Reconciliations and Capital/Fixed Assets. Assignments vary according to business need and intern qualifications.  All are designed to stretch your skills and to support your professional development by providing clear goals and actionable feedback on your performance. In addition, you will be participating in a program that encompasses:
• Approximately ten-week summer assignment at Masonite’s corporate headquarters in Tampa, Florida
• Development of personal and professional skills through training, networking and mentoring relationships
• Interactions with other Masonite departments and plant operations during month end close activities, P&L reviews, account reconciliation research/resolution and the capital/fixed asset business processes
• The opportunity to build teamwork skills through interaction with other interns and colleagues
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Support Accounting with ongoing or new projects
• Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of job responsibilities
• Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with management and employees
• Exchange information clearly and concisely and to present ideas, report facts, and other pertinent information
• Will work effectively both autonomously and within a team environment
Duties:
• Assist with performing month end close accounting responsibilities: prepare journal entries, review transactional support, update accounting schedules and ensure compliance with both GAAP and SOX.
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations and investigate/resolve discrepancies
• Review Capital Expenditure Requests and create projects in multiple ERP systems
• Review Fixed Asset forms for addition capitalization, asset transfer or disposal of asset.  Perform transaction in ERP and BNA fixed asset system.
• Assist with plant location P&L research and review
Qualifications:
• Require student seeking bachelor or master’s degree in accounting.  Prefer student entering final year of bachelor’s degree or starting master’s degree.
• Successful completion of Intermediate Financial Accounting I and Auditing I or Intermediate Financial Accounting II
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
• Problem Solving Skills
• Business Acumen
