Description:
Communication Specialist needed in the Owensboro, KY area. Job Duties: Repair and maintenance of the following: Microwave transceivers, DC chargers, Multiplexers, Feedline dehydrators and all associated equipment at tower sites. Perform technical functions in the installation, repair, modification and maintenance of electronic communications equipment, integrated directional radio equipment, maintains all remote tower sites in an assigned area and associated test equipment of the Kentucky Emergency Warning System; and perform other duties as required. Network basics needed. KEWS/Commonwealth Office of Technology The Kentucky Emergency Warning System (KEWS) is a highly survivable and redundant Public Safety microwave communications system carrying radio control, data, video, and voice traffic for government agencies. KEWS integrates the functions of several state agencies for use by state officials in emergency situations that require inter-agency communication and coordination. The Kentucky Emergency Warning System's vision is to offer a statewide, integrated communications and information network with high speed, high capacity delivery of voice, data and video transmissions positioning the Commonwealth to better serve our citizens with advanced applications and future technologies such as: Next Generation E911 Situational Awareness Command and Control Mobile Data Network Video surveillance and monitoring Amber and Golden alert services E-health services Weather alerts and information Applicants should have at a minimum a 2 year degree in Electronics Engineering or similar Electronics degree OR Experience in Microwave Communication, 2-way radio, Cellular Telephone Technician, or other Radio Electronics - employment will be accepted as a substitute for education. The preferred applicant would have an Electronics degree and experience in a Radio Frequency (RF) technical position.

Normal working days: weekdays Normal work shifts: First (days) Overtime is required for this position Repair and maintained the following: Microwave transceivers, DC chargers, Multiplexers, Feedline dehydrators and all associated equipment at tower sites. Performs technical functions in the installation, repair, modification and maintenance of electronic communications equipment, integrated directional radio equipment, maintains all remote tower sites in an assigned area and associated test equipment of the Kentucky Emergency Warning System; and performs other duties as required. Network basics needed. Overnight travel is very rare and would always be in state. Almost non-existent. There would be daily travel to the tower sites the technician would be responsible for, but the state provides the vehicle and all expenses for it. Home every night and only an occasional after hours call out.
