Job Description: At Regions, our Mortgage Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Loan Originator directs origination of residential mortgage loans from low to moderate income customers based on standards set by the Department of Urban Housing and Development and Community Reinvestment Act.
Primary Responsibilities
• Increases mortgage loan volume, primarily focusing on CRA, low-to-moderate, and minority customers, through effective selling
• Promotes the Bank’s CRA, low-to-moderate, and minority lending efforts and generates residential mortgages in targeted areas
• Establishes relationships with nonprofit housing groups, state and local housing offices, and community based affordable housing organizations to generate and increase CRA mortgage opportunities within targeted areas
• Partners with state, local and county down payment assistance programs
• Represents the bank at educational seminars, workshops, and housing programs with state and local, and non-profit housing organizations
• Advises customers on the mortgage loans that are appropriate for their individual financial circumstances
• Develops leadership abilities in the community when it comes to mortgages and mortgage knowledge
• Builds and deepens relationships with industry-specific centers of influences real estate agents and contractors
• Maximizes the bank’s resources to assist in selling and establishing relationships
• Cross-sells bank products at each mortgage closing
• Complies with all appropriate bank policies and regulatory guidelines
This position requires the tracking of time and is eligible for overtime for hours worked in excess of 40 per week under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Requirements
• High school diploma or GED
• Three (3)  years of mortgage lending experience with proven mortgage production
Preferences
• Bachelor's degree
• Prior mortgage experience in developing external business relationships
Skills and Competencies
• Knowledgeable of Mortgage products, systems, terminology, tax requirements, down payment assistance programs, etc.
• Sales acumen
• Knowledgeable on agency and investor regulations and guidelines
• Must be able to multi-task competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
• Must be able to build and maintain internal and external relationships to deliver high levels of service
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Good organizational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products
