Overview of Position
We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager who is passionate about architecting and building high-volume, mission-critical services. As manager of this team, you will build a clearinghouse on AWS, using DevOps practices, that processes trillions of transactions, powering a significant portion of the US healthcare system. What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Direct management 1-2 teams of 4-5 developers each. Build, mentor, and grow the team, including hiring exceptional talent as appropriate. Up to 25% of time coding.
Lead your distributed engineering team in developing and managing large scale cloud-based healthcare medical network solutions, leveraging an evolving set of languages and technologies
Develop “best-in-class” engineering for our services by ensuring that the services and the components are well-defined and modularized, secure, reliable, diagnosable, actively monitored and reusable.
Work with Product Management to influence business strategy. Build strong relationships with partner teams within Change Healthcare to bring innovation.
Foster a culture of inclusivity and disciplined software engineering practices to deliver business value, guided by data.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
8+ years of hands-on experience developing enterprise-grade software, including high volume transactional processing (preferred stack listed below).
3+ years of experience managing engineering teams, delivering high- quality software for customers.
A demonstrated success in direct people leadership in software development, particularly using an Agile process and DevOps to build and maintain mission-critical services.
A sense of personal ownership and accountability is required, together with the ability to deliver to deadlines while managing internal stakeholder expectations.
Experience with AWS cloud services (or other cloud service providers.
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Strong background in modern languages such as Python, Go, Java, distributed systems development, REST web services, and AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, Fargate, S3, Kinesis, and AppMesh.
Ability to communicate technical details clearly across organizational boundaries.
Excellent analytical skills with a systematic and structured approach to software design.
A philosophy on what makes for great software development teams.
Demonstrable experience working with large enterprise data assets.
Experience with X12 healthcare transactions such as Eligibility and Claims.
Experience with HIPAA compliance and the security of PHI data.
Demonstrated a strong drive to learn and advocate for development best practices (TDD, code reviews, continuous integration, work in small batches, etc.)
Experience with GIT, GitHub/Lab, Terraform, Jira
